Dahlin and Monahan had the exact same PPG this year too.

I mean I guess enjoy 31st again without a centre beside Eichel?

Please don’t disrespect Flames legend Curtis Lazar.
But Buffalo can’t lose Kahun a young player that can actually produce. Cozens one of the best prospects in hockey, and a 2021 first which would probably be a top 10 pick.

Monahan is a good target. Cozens and a first is incredibly too much after the year he just had.

Actually, pretty sure you mean Drafting 8oa, either way its a tired point. Maybe the way to get better isnt overpaying in every deal we make.

I love how people overrate magic beans. Monahan is a producer who has hit 80 points and consistently a 30 goal guy.

Cozens just had a year in junior, so do many players who turn into nothing.

Monahan has the defensive metrics of Risto. There’s more to the game then just offense. How about Pelletier, Mangiapane, and a first for Reinhart. O, don’t want to do it? I wonder why.

Oh no, I would do that, depends what Reinhart resigns for though, not a ton of cap room for the Flames.

I don't know how to feel about this comment. I was going to say drop one of Kahun or Cozens but that doesn't seem right either. End of the day, I think you nailed it.

Also, Monahan doesn't need to have better defensive metrics than a ****ing defenseman.

My point was he’s a trash can defensively. And centers absolutely are a critical part of the defensive zone. Way more then wings. Less then defenseman obviously. Alas, seems I’m not the only one that thinks the package above is an overpayment, even some Cal fans.

This sounds like someone who has not really watched Flames games - his defensive game has increased drastically in the last year.

Go look at his RAPM map. He gets CAVED in defensively. Looks just like Risto’s. And even if I grant you he got better defensively this year, his offense took a massive drop.

So you don't take microstats and macrostats into your consideration?

How about why those things happen - like being on the top line is conducive to Ozone starts. Also he has positive Corsi and Fenwick most of his career according to hockey reference.

Take into account that Eichel would take away the opponent's best defensive players and you get 80 point Monahan on your second line.

Idk what to tell you, I’ve laid out why Cozens plus a first and a young player in Kahun is overpayment. And nearly everyone on the chain agrees. And you called a top 5 nhl prospect magic beans. I mean was Monahan not a rookie at some time? It’s a bad trade for Buffalo, and I would bet if offered would be accepted in a heart beat and the flames would be better off for years to come, possibly starting in year 2 after the deal. Either way, not changing my mind, I’m prolly not changing yours so that’s that
