They would probs ask for Holl back but even then this is a risky trade for both sides as Fabbro didnt look that great this season and if they want to pair him with Rielly hes really need to step it up. While at the same time Nashville loses a cheap RHD and a pick that could help them speed up their retool

Laughable is a big exaggeration. He may get 9m or 9.5m a year. But 8m a year isn't completely insane.

Why is it awful for Nashville?

Hmm Fair. They would only trade Nylander if the Right Hand Dman looked good. So maybe Fabbro isn't the right target.

Fabbro is the only cheap and young dman in NSH's top four. They don't have anyone in the system to replace him at the moment. Yes, his rookie season wasn't without it's bumps, but he still has top pair potential, and his floor shouldn't be worse than a solid #4. They also have one of the worst prospect pools in the league, so that 1st is more important to them, than it would be for other teams.

Basically, you're asking for two off limit pieces from NSH here. It's an easy decline from them.

Thanks for the info! Doubt Nash and Toronto make good trading partners then. Not a big fan of trading Nylander for Ellis who is 29. Would much rather a younger guy for Nylander. That's why I like Ekblad as an option.

I don't why you think 8m is laughable. It's a flat cap league, and RFAs are getting more money....therefore less for UFAs. What other teams that are "acceptable" to Pietrangelo as a long term landing spot have the ability to pay him much more than 8m?

Yes, I don't like the trade for Nashville.

Sorry but if we're trading Nylander for a first round pick, it has to be for a top 5 overall pick, or close to that.

If he is taking 8 mil he will stay in STL. Taxes are much better and they can offer him 8 years instead of 7. Plus he is the captain there

I'll agree with you he might take a discount to stay a Blue. As I suggested there just isn't enough "good" teams that can make Pietrangelo an offer much different than the Blues.
I wouldn't worry about taxes.....it's not a concern between Canada and the US, but maybe some US states.
