That's actually an interesting idea, but I think NYR would have to take Francouz's contract. They don't need him by that point.

i'd rather keep cole. he still has a role to play.

lundqvist isn't any better than gru or francouz.

both trades are unrealistic. hank isn't excepting a trade and why would he even agree to be traded?

why would la take a 4.3 mill cap hit for a 3rd rounder a season from now?

Sakic basically confirmed they will keep Gru and Francouz for next season, I don't think Lundqvist would be an upgrade over either of them anyway

Lots of intangibles come with Lundqvist. First off COL would eventually become the classiest team in the NHL as more and more players start dressing like Hank. Also his hair is always camera ready, so he's always available for post game interviews. Which takes the pressure off other top players on the team to skip interviews if their having a bad hair day or played a bad game that night.

For the record Montreal just traded a 3rd round pick for Allen who's not as good as Lundqvist and makes the same money with NYR retaining half the King's contract. So Lundqvist contract is actually a bargain. smile

Unless avs make a separate deal with one if they’re goalies, they are not adding a 3rd one.

The fit isn’t there

I can see your rationale with the contracts matching up. But Colorado would still need to go get another 6D and be spending $4.25m on a backup. I don't see this as realistic.

Kings aren't taking Smith unless there's a 1st coming along with him.

Lindhom realistically isn’t part the nhl depth chart going forward. I think they try to find a graves bigras swap to fill that need until they can lure Zhuravlyov from the khl and graduate helleson

I don't think it makes sense to use Zadorov as a 7D. For one he wouldn't be happy. Nor would it be good asset or cap management.

I agree. The Kings won't be trading for Smith.

Suppose not but still that's a prohibitive ask. He's only getting like $2.3M In real cash after bonuses and only a $4.3M cap hit. Still a physical dman that could be a decent 6/7 defenseman.
