Created by: Deleted_xh2j92
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 19, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Make some bigger moves with Winnipeg; A return to Chicago for Danault; Some Cap move with Edmonton and New Jersey;
This would bring space for Hoffman and Ehlers to lead the first line; Bring in Puljujärvi who has lots to prove, Brassard for some experience at the center; Sign Carson for some size and good defense; Chicago and NJ are giving up first round picks, but HIGH ones.. So they get good players to help their holes and we get space we need with good return. Winnipeg give up Ehlers but do get a good center in Domi, a good potential Dman in Mete a good prospect in Ikonen and a 1st pick. This gives them space to re-sign Laine next year.
Gives 23M$ next year to sign our UFAs and RFAs we want to keep.
I'd even trade Petry during the season knowing he may not come back at a reasonable price. Wonder if Pens would trade up for Letang.. We'd need to put in anoher player just for cap.

no.. they accept. High pick, not top 10... Danault is a proven 2nd-3rd center...

?? Not really. Hall may be looking at 8+M$/yr; given Hoffman's numbers and age, it would set him up for the next few, and if he can produce as such again then it's a good deal for both.

He'll be playing with Ehlers who can help him continue on that path to produce year after year, and Suzuki that will need his mentorship for future years and has shown some great skills as a career center!

Hall is only getting 8M because of his MVP season. If he was only going to reproduce his 2019-20 season, the number would be closer to 7.
And take a look at Hoffman's EV numbers. Dude does not produce much 5v5. He's decent on the PP but idk how much of that is playing with Barkov and Huberdeau. Wouldn't even give him 6M tbh.
If you want to go for a UFA forward on the Panthers, I suggest Dadanov. Much better.

Why the HELL are you trying to turn the Habs into a top heavy scoring team that wins games through the regular season but does crap in the playoffs? No way on any planet does Puljujarvi play 2nd line above Gallagher! You basically made every OTHER team better by making the Habs worse. You traded away 6 roster players to get 3 in return. You moved Tatar, Danault and Domi and didn't bring in a 1LHD and then you paid Hoffman Hall type of money. There is really nothing to like about your moves from a Habs stand point.

no we have Toews, Strome, Dach, Kampf, Suter, Barrett, and Kurashev. We don't need more center. We're going to draft a winger or LHD or trade it for a top LHD

Danault is only worth a first round pick to a team like minny or maybe calgary. Teams that don't have center depth. Chicago is fine at center. I'd give up a 2nd at most for danault

You obviously don't read. I traded for Kampf. Toews isn't getting any younger and needs someone to help if he gets hurt, Strome is an ok center that will need more time to develop, same for Dach, Kurashev... he's still in the AHL and has yet to shown to be ready to move up at least for another two years of development. By adding Danault, they buy a extra year of a top 3 centerman at low cost which they can re-sign if need be when their young centers are ready or not.

My team, my view. Not happy? Then glad for you.

Wish he would sign lower, but the state the league is in, they keep overpaying players. He got a hit of 5.1M$ last years with a salary of 5.6M$, he'll want more money then that for the last length of his career since there are good assets out there but he's top one in goal scoring that's UFA. I like Dandonov and he should hit the 4.5 to 5M$ hit, but while he's close in goal scoring to Hoffman, he's a year older, and total point are lower by a dozen points. He could be a Plan-B if Hoffman doesn't want to come to MTL.

Would also consider Hall, but from what was posted on some walls and by some insider talk on TSN and Sportsnet, he'll want in closer to the 8M$/yr.

This year is weird because we have no idea how owners will direct their General Managers in term of money. Will they approve over spending like other years for Hall, Hoffman, Dandonov or Toffoli.. We don't know.

Habs just gave 3.5M$ to Edmunston which was the number I was giving him based on 3 and 4yrs contracts. So I hit it straight on for that one. We'll see about Hoffman and Hall in the coming weeks.

Truth hurts I guess huh. What do you expect when you sell low on our players for players not worth half their value.

Your reasoning is even worse than the trade. First of all, the Hawks can’t take on Danault’s cap hit now, and they certainly won’t be able to re-sign. They’re sure as hell not going to trade 17 OV for a player that is just a rental when they’re not even competing. Second of all, what the hell are you talking about with Strome and Dach? Sure, they can both develop more, but Strome is already a top 6 center, and Dach played like one in the playoffs. If one of Toews, Dach, or Strome gets hurt, we’re still fine at center.

This is a garbage offer and you clearly don’t know anything about the Hawks’ situation. Don’t like it? Then glad for you.

You should know a troll when you see one I mean you do look in the mirror every day right? You didn't like my assessment of your trades so you resort to name calling like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum. By the way look back through the replies not one Habs fan agrees with a single trade proposal you made that should tell you that my assessment was spot on not a troll.
