Bruins aren’t taking ghost unless the flyers retain and take Moore.

You do know they don’t have to be resigned until AFTER this upcoming year, right? And in this scenario there are a lot of expiring contracts. Plenty of cap space to sign both long term

That just means it’s pretty realistic. Fans alway overvalue their own players and undervalue others.

I would say that ghost has more value than Moore. No way would they have to retain and take back a bad contract. It’s either one or the other. Very rarely both

I don't think so in this case. TK and Sanheim would be well more than enough, any addition would be overkill big time

They have like 15 million coming off the book by the time they'd need to sign extensions in the scenario...

Unless a team is cap strapped and has no interest in the player.

Sharks decline. Burns for Voracek swap is feasible, but Van Riemsdyk’s value is pretty far off of Burns’, so there’s not a ton of incentive there for us.

SJ is no longer a contender. Burns doesn’t help them. And he’s the oldest of their D. They save a little bit of money and get out of a big contract at least 2 years sooner. JVR could also be exposed by SJ in the expansion and they’ll be rid of it sooner.
There’s not likely many teams that could take on Burns contract so Flyers have leverage there. Dug themselves a hole with 3 aging Dmen with very pricey contracts. They need help

Right. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but my point still stands. Burns is worth much more than Van Riemsdyk and we can just expose him in the expansion draft worst case scenario. Burns 100% helps us, but we need still need to move on from him. He’s still a great player if on a good team and paired with the right partner. There also aren’t many teams that can take on JVRs contract lol I’m not totally sure how Philly has a ton of leverage here. If we were trading Burns and taking less than half his salary back, then maybe, but that’s not the case. We’re taking back a worse player, albeit on a less bad contract and only saving $1M. Sorry but as is, it’s gonna have to be a no from the Sharks.

Yeah I don't think I do that for Laine as a Flyers fan, however, I tend to think Laine is a bit overrated. I doubt Chuck does it either given all his talk about addressing depth in exit interviews.
