Obviously the Leaf's are not going to be able to fit that under that cap even if they were ok with the hockey trade.

IF the Leafs were to move Marner it would not be to a division rival

From a hockey perspective the Leafs would say no

Toronto does not have the room to take on that much cape space. Nor do I think they would do Tampa a big favour by taking contracts Tampa doesn't want anymore so they can sign their young RFAs.

He would be their 3rd pair left dman. Leafs need RHD. As far as the trade goes, leafs get nothing out of it. Healthy Stamkos is the best player, but his cap hit is comparable, and he is much older. And as much as I think the whole Stamkos is injured all the time is very overblown, it stands to reason age will definitely make that more true than less true. Also Johnson is a fine player, but highly overrated and overpaid. Leafs traded Kadri and his cap hit partially because it was too high, and he is definitely better than TJ. Same goes for Gourde- like the player, but kind of insane he got that contract. In the end leafs add around 7-9 million salary, give two picks, get much older, and with the context, give up the best player. Tell me, would you trade Point for Tavares?

Even dealing Mitch Marner, Toronto can't afford over $18 million between Stamkos, Johnson and Gourde without even shedding far more salary cap.

Don't know why so many think Johnston and Gourde and now Stamkos are waiving their NTCs.
Leafs and no teams are interested in Johnson and his contract....maybe Gourde too.

After calling these guys wimps, pussies and shrimps for months on end, I doubt you're very sincere about Toronto acquiring "leadership and grit".

The Leafs can definitely take Cernak off your hands if you want.

WHY don't you understand the dynamics of NTCs? Johnson has already given Tampa his list of teams ...NTCs ONLY are there to give the player a say in where he goes if team doesnt want u then it over

The only exception is of an old player on last few years of "fat contract" whose play has deteriorated immensely and can't go on LTIR ...then team in trouble and costs you a #1 to unload or buyout

Sooner you understand how world really works we help u

Has Johnson really given a list....or is it just media saying it. Not many teams (probably none suitable to Johnsson) have the cap or even the desire to take on on his 5M X 4 contract. You're correct it's players choice, but maybe I sure would like to know the teams that really want Johnson...and that Johnson or maybe Gourde would want to be traded to. Sooner you understand how the world really works it can help you.
