How do you get a LD on this team

Created by: Bcarlo25
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2020
Published: Oct. 12, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bruins desperately need a legit top pair LD. I have zero faith in Don Sweeney. It’s inexplicable that all he’s done is go out and get a decent RW, just to block their top prospect, ignore LW, and sign kevan miller to a bonkers deal.

So, who can be had? No interest in OEL. Don’t think he’s a legit top pair guy.
No, Carlo and McAvoy aren’t available. All futures should be except for Studnicka. Now that Hall is off the board, Debrusk probably shouldn’t be moved.
Who’s available that I haven’t thought of? Petro can’t play the left side, can he? I’m not seeing much out there.

Honestly, the best option. Unless someone has more a creative idea?

Why? Anaheim plan on being a contender in the next two years? Perfect time to move him.

Problem is, after Studnicka, the prospect pool is quite thin.

If you want Krug-lite, I'd think guys like Dunn, Butcher, Gostisbehere, Mete would be available

Brendan Smith, Thomas Hickey, Jake Gardiner, Jake McCabe, Calvin De Haan could be had at discount

But the guys you listed above...I don't think they could be obtained without dipping in NHL roster.

That is a dangerous game with McAvoy and Carlo coming up as RFAs soon.

Dip into the roster then.

First pairing guy. No interest in a Krug-lite.

Let Krecji walk. Find a way to get rid of Moore. Re-sign Rask cheaper or find a cheaper goalie. Fill up the backup spot for cheaper. Plenty of ways

He’s our best defender. It would cost more than Boston would want to pay

Fancy losing him in UFA?
Doesn’t Cam Fowler get the lions share of the minutes on the left side?

What do you think he would cost?

You misunderstand. I don’t mean that there wouldn’t be cap space, i mean dangerous to offer sheet a guy when you’ve got a whole bunch of guys that could get offer sheeted.

considering the ducks just added Shattenkirk, Lindholm getting moved doesn't make sense. Also their best dman at 26 years old

K. They’re not good. They’re not going to be good for the duration of his contract, at which point he is an unrestricted free agent. You’re putting a lot of faith in his desire to stay long term.

If you are taking Studnicka, Debrusk, McAvoy and Carlo off the table...hard to piece together a 1st pairing guy from Bjork, Vaak, picks, etc.

Marchand for Ekholm
Pastrnak for Lindholm
Beecher, Vaakanainen and 2021 1st for Schmidt
Beecher, Vaakanainen and 2021 1st for Sergachev

who's to say that? I'm sure they won't be a playoff team for the 20-21 season but writing off their 21-22 season isn't fair. A lot of things can change, they have a pretty good wave of young talent coming into their team soon.

That’s true I suppose. There’s always something to be said for the ability to put a contract in front of the guy too. I think that given their position, and the guy they just drafted, moving him for a young top six winger, a 1st, and good D prospect would make some sense.

Did you just say Pastrnak for two years of hampus lindholm? Seriously?

Lauzon, Kase, Vaak, Beecher, any and all picks. Debrusk could still be in play. I just said he probably shouldn’t be moved.

As for the post, I'd prefer Nate Schmidt. I'm not sure what the price would be, but does Vegas have a lot of leverage making this deal? Whole world knows they have to move cap more Pietrangelo. I mean Columbus traded a top 4 Ryan Murray for a 5th because they had no leverage. I'm not suggesting Schmidt gets traded for a 5th, but what if the price isn't as high as we think?

No, would never trade Pastrnak for any of those guys.

Sergachev an option
Also, Pens are long LD...maybe Dumoulin?
NYI is cap squeeze...Pelech? Toews?
Keith Yandle?

I don't think Lindholm or Ekholm are likely targets.

You mentioned one guy that fits my description. Not interested in the, “hmmm maybe this guy can be okay if he’s next to mcavoy,” options. If the bruins are going to do that, do it from within.

You asked, "how can I get a LD on this team". I threw out names. Trying to help.

If B's can make a top-4 d-man out of parts within....Zboril, Vaak, or even Moore....then do that.
