Description

CJ reiterated that the Panther's are trying to trade Weegar. Doesn't mean he will get traded or that you want him traded, but instead of seeing a million more Leafs ACGM's acquiring him for a wide array of prices (normally not enough), how about we try to hash out a decent standard for a Weegar trade?

Just thought it might be a good idea.

P.S - Put in the 1st as a potential starting point, proposals don't have to include that.

Dubas would give a 2nd and Liligren at most. But realistically Dermott and a 2nd should be where its at as Florida needs a LD to take Weegars place.

I mentioned in the description that it was just a placeholder. Two 2nds is also pretty equal to a 1st in general, positioning obviously would be a factor. Personally, if Florida would trade Weegar to us for a 1st (lottery protected), I'd do it.

Honestly it’s pretty fair. But Toronto might need to dump more cap

Kerfoot + Dermott maybe?. Zito apparently wants another center. Dermott is developing well and is projecting to become Nate Schmidt who florida was apparently in on so...

I'd rather trade a 1st (lottery protected) than a 2nd plus Liljegren, but to each their own.

Why would Florida trade Weegar to get another LD from Toronto? Where would Weegar fit on Toronto?

Chris Johnston said he believes Dubas aint done yet so we will see. Its tricky as Dermott is developing well and could become a similar player to nate schmidt in a year or two. Holl when paired with Muzzin produces well and yes his numbers drop away from muzzin but hes still way above average. Its so hard to tell what dubas is planning lul. Heck Holl had similar numbers to Parayko who was linked with the leafs. Its weird how hockey analytics work but hey if he can do it again im not one to complain.

If Weegar gets moved to Toronto fla fans are going to be pissed at the return. It won’t be much.

To the OP you won’t stop the tsunami of stupid heading this way. But it will most likely all be from people offering too much.

Best case scenario is they get Dermott for Weegar. They should be very happy. Lhd with great potential who will come cheap and has no arb rights.

Not sure they want that much cap back. Assume it would be multi layers going back and forth in that case.

?? I didn't trade or suggest trading another LD for Weegar.

If you mean in terms of cap, the Leafs would have to make other moves for sure. If you mean in terms of in the lineup, I'd play him with Rielly, personally, but a Muzzin Weegar pairing would be fine, too.

Florida has the room and Zito is looking for another center according to reports. Not many cheap choices in FA left and the ones that are will cost more or the same as Kerfoot. Plus Kerfoot is only owed 2.6mill. Basically if done the center core (Barkov, Wennberg, Kerfoot, Accari).

Also Florida really wont be adding much cap as with Weegar wanting 3mill its 500k more with kerfoot added and no idea what dermotts making so lets say 1.25 so really 1.75 mill in cap is the difference.

if were not on his M-NTC lul. If not that im all for it.

Only problem is if we do Kerfoot + Dermott for Weegar + Accari we need to move Holl out. As we dont got the cap space should Weegar want his 3mill.

But man lets say a trade happens where Acciari and Weegar come to Toronto and Kerfoot + Dermott and whatever go to Florida man is this team gonna be even more scary than it currently is and honestly the Tampa model is given as

Hyman-Matthews-Marner (top scoring line)
Mikheyev-Tavares-Nylander (second top scoring line)
Vesey-Acciari-Simmonds (Bashing line)
Barbanov-Engvall-Spezza (second checking line)

Dcore is where its at though

Rielly-Brodie (Congrats Rielly Brodie will be the best partner you have ever had bumping Hainsey to #2)
Muzzin-Weegar (Your new and improved Shutdown Pair)
Lehtonen-Bogosian (Wildcard line but if Lehtonen plays like he is in the KHL right now holy **** he could be in the Calder conversation and in the Norris conversation, Bogosian just needs to hit but not get distracted)

Yep, the Dcore, is where it's at. That's why if Weegar is available, I think the Leafs need to be in hard on him. Imo, his addition would give the Leafs the best D they've had in many years and the offence would still be near the top of the league. I'd overpay for him if necessary.

The only issue at all that I take with your lineup is Acciari at 3C. I'm not a fan of his and I think he's a mediocre 4th liner, but if they could find a way to get another serviceable 3C at under $2m...
