I love Brendan Gallagher but don't understand why Habs fans think he's worth so much. I also wonder if that Tatar extension is prudent at his age, but will concede that top nine could be really good if JK can re-establish himself as a high end prospect.

Tatar won’t resign, but if you watched Habs game, Gallagher is the spark in almost every game. He’s the heart and soul of this team. If you only look at the numbers, you might say that’s the stats of a 2nd line winger, but he brings soo much more than points

Paying too much for heart and soul is a huge mistake. Check the Canucks bottom six of you want to see what that looks like. I know the Habs have identity/character issues but paying such a premium would be crazy.

If Schmidt got a 3rd for a team in cap hell, I doubt anyone is going to give a 3rd for Kulak who is not as good.

I'm always a bit confused in HabsLand re: Danault...One minute he's should be winning the Selke, and he's a top C in the league, then the next, you're giving him less money than Josh Anderson, and slightly more than Tyler Toffoli?

Running Edmundson as 1LD is a huge mistake. Maybe they will win 5-4 every night.

Not re-signing Tatar and getting a better LD should be your goal.

that's the point, he's being paid 5.5-6M as a 30 goal, 50-60 point gritty winger.... the extra above it is the heart and soul.

Canucks dumped money on Beagle and Roussel because they were desperate and none of them produce at a pace commensurate to the salary.

Gallagher will get paid, i'm hoping in the 5.5, but realistically it will be 6... my hope is a 4 year term to manage it in case he becomes an injury bound player as he gets older.

Danault is gone, if the kids keep progressing, he'll be relegated to third line, and no way you're paying a 3C $6M+.
His rights get trade next off-season, or he walks into FA.

Fair. I view Montreal as a team that wants to emulate Vegas-Run 4 lines evenly. I don't think there's any world where he takes less than what Statsny got a couple of years ago.

Obviously this won't be the team....a 20 man roster and no cap. And why would Montreal want to even field the same team? It's a bare playoff team now, and going cap heavy on aging veterans isn't a good long term solution
