James Neal can play a role effectively for the oil, just not at 5.75 mil level. Eriksson can barely stay on a roster. Oil would have no interest, let alone in sending a 2nd rounder with Neal???

Agreed Toronto fans need to stop over valuing the bottom half of their roster.

Totally agree, They can deal their bottom guys elsewhere. We've no use for them.

*Benning finishes his 9th double shot of Johnnie Walker Blue, puts the glass down and calls Dubas*

Vancouver ACCEPTS, but would like to send Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser in this package too. They'll be too expensive to sign in the future. We'll take back Jimmy Vesey and Jack Campbell, and we'll retain 50% of their salary so the Leafs can afford them. Plus, we would like to keep our 6th and 7th round picks, so we'll give you two 1st rounders instead. Deal?

People on cap-friendly need to stop acting like they are the supreme overlords of what is and isn't value for players when they have literally been proven wrong by trades that actually happened irl they insisted were never going to happen like the Johnsson trade and the Kapanen trade. You guys sit here an act like no player who plays on the Leafs has any talent or trade value simply because they play for the Leafs and contribute litterally nothing to any agm other than trolling every agm on the site.

Lol how many people were trading Johnsson for a 1st and/or 2nd round pick? What did you get? Garbage for garbage.

You're acting like the deals teams have made now are made like it's a normal situation.

It's a far from normal. Over half of the league is having massive cap trouble and PIT's GM is a senile old man. All of it is far from normal.

You're acting like that all just came about last night and everything in the world just happened now. I realise you were born last night but the current state of affairs wasn't.

I mean it kinda came from nowhere. Since the latest trade deadline, no one could've expected this to happen.

No, but a Gm could have decided that manoeuvrability of roster options is more important than signing everyone to 7-year deals with a team full of NMC's. Dubas realised that frontloading contracts and keeping them shorter makes them more tradable and gives the team flexibility. The current situation just played into that. That's skill not luck.
