Nearly all of Bogo's Ice time this playoffs was split about evenly with Hedman and McDonagh. I think it is totally reasonable that he would push Holl down to the 3rd pair

I dont think you do know about bogosians qualities if you are referring to him as half of a shutdown pairing

The thing I see in Bogo is his compete level, after all he did win a cup. There isn't one defensemen other than Muzzin who won the cup, and Bogosian adds that. If we all Leafs fans love Muzzin's compete, his grittiness, physicality, I'm sure Bogo will become a fan favourite. A lot of Lightning fans on Twitter were quite upset that Bogo wasn't re-signed

No one looks how players play in Buffalo. Everyone takes it as a small sample size. Didn't ROR want to quit hockey when he was playing for the Sabres, to then win a cup after getting dealt? Bogosian won the cup and he was an important piece for their cup run. Seems like you missed the playoffs. I recommend you to go and watch it

Bogosian didn't win a cup. The Lightning won a cup.
Not all players who win the cup are valuable.

If the Lightning were going against the Leafs, what top 4 looks more intimidating?

OPTION A:
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Bogosian

OPTION B:
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl

I didnt know the defensemen who played the 6th most minutes per game out of 6 defensemen was so important.

I agree. Muzzin-Bogosian can work cause Muzzin is a very good Dman and this should allow Bogosian to do well even in a top 4 role.

yep, Holl with a capable Dman partner can push top 4 but realistically he is more comfortable playing a third line role as thats where he shines.

bogo played those minutes because the other guys were basically double shifting and he was the secondary partner.

Schenn was the #7

Maybe you should stop hating on Bogo and appreciate that there's another vet and cup champ on your team. I would have very happily had him resign for that deal in Tampa

Muzzin and Bogosian would be as slow as 2009 Mike Komisarek

The quick leafs didn’t make the playoffs. I’m not tryna watch this leafs team buckle again just cause Dubas and the boys want to play quick and flashy. Bottom 5 in the league in goals against are you kidding me and all the blame goes on Ceci as if one bad D man costs you that many goals. The whole team didn’t play defense. Hey let’s carry the puck up neutral ice, hey let’s Hail Mary pass the puck to the other teams end and get an icing. These vets better rip into these kids and get them to defend the cycle down in their end. No more hey Andersen wants to play the back to back he’s a real committed guy nah you dress when you’re told to. We all celebrated that Carolina win but the leafs looked like complete dog**** in their own end. Can’t even beat out Florida for third in the Atlantic, just playing touch butt with each other cause neither team wants it. And we all laugh and go that’s the leafs they’re great! Can’t defend Muzzin - Holl shutting down nothing this past season. Bottom 5 GAA....

If the leafs are running a 20 man roster, they'll prob run with 7D sometimes, meaning that you can tactically deploy bogo on the PK and keep him sheltered, whereas dermott/holl/lehtonen can take the offensive zone starts

Bogo (unless he proves otherwise) is a 6-7 dman, and we're asking for trouble if we're giving him 23 minutes a night to shut the game down, that's brodie's job lol

yep if we go by the depth charts for the playoffs

Hedman 1D
Sergechev 2D
Mcdonagh 3D
Cernak 4D
Bogosian 5D
Rutta 6D/7D
Schenn 6D/7D
Coburn 8D

Only reason Bogosian got scratched 5 games I believe was they wanted Rutta to get some games in.
