Brisebois isn't dealing Sergachev for futures, He'll want a cheap replacement as Tampa is in win now mode and wants another cup. Laine isn't taking $8.5 mil long term. For 6 years you're looking at closer to $9.5 mil per especially if he has another great season this year.

Heinola is about as close as he's gonna get and TB desperately needs an ELC, idk if he'd get a better offer.

I don’t hate the Serge trade. I don’t think they trade him and it would take a first if they did, but I think it works for all parties.

Damn would I take that sergachev deal in a hurry, tempt sea with DeMelo, and keep rolling forward. Free agency can solve depth on rhd side, morrissey and add name here on second pair could be all right. Like the backlund idea, I’m sure there’s a variety of ways to pull that off with a variety of names. Like any build that improves top 3 dman for expansion and going forward.

Backlund never waives for Winnipeg.

Even if he was willing, why would the Flames

Idk why they would, I was commenting from a Jets perspective and the reality that few will waive their trade protection for Winnipeg, Backlund is solid, a really unappreciated player.

As a Flames fan, I can say with 100% certainty, we'd be stupid to. No disrespect to Copp, but he's more like Bennett and that would be a downgrade.

As a Jets fan I 100% agree, Copp is overrated meh!..
Lol

I'd never trade Backlund for Copp.

I like that Sergachev deal for both teams. Tampa would get a highly touted prospect who is super close to being NHL ready and the jets would get a stud Dman.
The issue i have would be...what's Heinola's ceiling? is it close to Sergachev? then if it is the jets miss out of 3 years of an ELC and probably have to pay Sergachev 6-7 mill as well as the headache to sign that deal.
