Finally a reasonable leafs fan. But tb says no. And you gave up too much to arizona holl is a plus.

well. ot was worth a shot. I thought i'd help tampa out of cap hell and give them a top line winger locked up for four years...

Value is pretty good but nylander doesnt help them. Otherwise not bad.

But you haven't helped out Tampa's cap problem at all. By your signings, Four years of Nylander has a bigger cap than the seven years of Cirelli and Cernak combined. Johnson to Minni....might be one of the few places that might take him.

TB likely doesn't want to deal with the Leafs, and the Leafs shouldn't be helping TB out of their cap situation.

Leafs take on $12.75 million in cap, Tampa takes $7. Gives them room to sign sergachev

The only real cost savings here is getting rid of Johnson's $5 mil. I'd rather have Cernak and Cirelli at $6.8 mil (According to your signings), than Nylander at $6.962. Leaves another hole to fill, and downgrades their lineup.

Like, here's what it'd look like:

TB current cap hit: $78.6 w/ Serg, Cirelli and Cernak to sign. (18 players currently signed)
TB cap hit after Nylander trade: $78.6-$5=$73.6+$6.9=$80.5 mil, with Serg to sign (18 players currently signed)

So, they're in worse shape, with worse depth after this trade.

I'd assume that the reason Tampa hasn't done anything wild and wacky so far is because they assume that Stamkos is going to be out for a long time, which will free up some space with LTIR. Still gotta trade someone like Johnson, but they'd be better off just doing the same deal with Minny as you have done here.

The Wild would have to be complete morons to make that trade!
So I’m saying there’s a chance...

I can’t picture minn just wanting Johnson. The only older forwards they have acquired are in 1 year deals and will all likely be traded at the deadline. After that it’s trying to send parise somewhere to make a cup run and pray zuccarello retires. After this season they’ll only have 1 or 2 forwards over 26. Parise and zuccarello if they can’t trade either.

If Minnesota is willing to take on Johnson for a 1st and 2nd why then would Tampa not just make that deal and keep Cernack and Cirelli?
