Description
Tampa probably wants to keep Sergachev at any cost, but that won't stop me.
Fair haul that does virtually nothing cap-wise to them, and they need it bad.

I like that one hahaha Tampa couldn't give away Tyler Johnson, a solid middle-6 player. This market is pathetic, and it's only a matter of time till Tampa gets fleeced, probably on more than 1 deal, because they have no choice.

Did Stamkos lift his NMC for them? No? Okay, so things are currently not going their way lol I don't think Sergachev is moving in general, but Sergachev + Cernak + Cirelli could command anywhere around 10 mill and deservingly so. With 2.9 roughly in cap, nobody wanting to trade for a player like Johnson, it only makes sense they get fleeced. It now becomes who can they give up and what is the best they can get in return. NOT what the player is worth, because it was obvious for Tyler Johnson situation they're screwed.

The problem is that you'd still have to outbid 29 other teams for a deal on Sergachev. Even if Tampa is going to lose that trade, they'll still get back a lot better packages than this.

Not really. 7 NHL teams have the cap space for sergachev without taking money back and 5 of those teams are either broke or rebuilding. However Buffalo is not one of those teams and they don’t have the space.

You'll notice in the AGM that Buffalo didn't have the cap space either and had to create some. Much like all those other teams except 2 (1 being tampa) could, and for a deal like this on Sergachev likely would, do.

My point is that money will not be moved easily. The two trades to move money out are unrealistic and won’t happen unless assets are attatched. My point is not that this trade is realistic, I think it will take atleast a second and a prospect. Not many teams have the cap space/ will be able to make the space/ actually want to spend the money as you think.

You say that only 2 teams wouldn’t be able to make a similar trade. 17 teams have less cap space than Tampa and many others have internal budgets. There would be at most 10 teams involved and that’s pushing it.

This package above is more like Cernak, which would be just as awesome to get.
