Tampa with a sergy offersheet

Created by: papishark
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 23, 2020

Description
How tampa can survive a Sergachev offersheet. Pretty much just spitballing on teams and prices, but I'm assuming the worst (teams demand serious prices and tampa has not much choice to accept)

I have no idea where a fit is, but detroit could for sure use him. I dont think they would consider Zadina or the top 2 D guys, so I guess its a workaround to find some kind of deal.

Think any serious offersheet would be a bit higher. Something to make Tampa seriously consider taking the compensation.

Fair. 6.5 is very tough for them though, as I show here it pretty much forces Cirelli out the door.

Maybe, I have heard arguments for both. I think ideally you trade one for a better return than an offersheet, but once one is in you dont have much of an option but to match and deal the other guy. If you get two offersheets your probably screwed

6.5 is a 1st and a 3rd, right? I think cirelli is significantly more valuable than sergachev. I think he’s the most underrated forward in the league. A legitimate 1C.

There's already been speculation that Tyler Johnson wont waive for Ottawa, And Detroit's not trading Veleno not even for Anthony Cirelli.

Ok but isn't Cirelli what Detroit would like Veleno to be?

I don't see the point in trading veleno and a 2nd for an older more expensive version of cirelli. I wouldn't do it with veleno in the deal

Fair enough. I was trying to find a somewhat fair deal without including detriots big boy prospects or a first. Without something atleast somewhat decent I cant see tampa trading Cirelli at all

Pretty sure they let that offersheet stand and don't match. Look at what you are giving up to save 1 player. ABB = (2nd) + 1st + 3rd + Paquette (2nd) + 2nd + Killorn (2nd + 4th) + Cirelli = (1st + 2nd + 3rd) That is a crap load of assets to lose for 1 player. IMO you let Sergachev walk and keep the package of players and pick required to resign him. Cause if you move those players your not going to be contenders next season.

It wasn't a big overpay by any means, you did a good job, just the way we are building I think veleno is too important for them to trade. I think tb is going to have to let someone go for super cheap, they can't afford it and teams know it.

Yeah I agree. I have no idea how they do it personally but thought I would check

I’m not a huge fan of Cirelli. But I’m less of a fan of this argument. Why would we trade player A for player B when we are hoping just as hard as we can that player A might be as good as player B one day.

Veleno is already behind Cirelli when he was that age. Not saying veleno won’t be good or that this is a deal that detroit has to take.

From what I have seen of Cirelli trades (I think they are all overpays) this one seems quite modest in relation. I actually think it is a fair trade in value.

I think I'd at least strongly consider from Detroit but a team desperate for a 1C might give a better offer for Cirelli

I just couldnt find a better fit. LA has guys coming and Kopi, Ottawa has guys coming, New York has no cap space and tons of cap weirdness, Columbus has set centers now.
