if Tavares was signed

Created by: jfrojelin
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2020
Published: Nov. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Explanation for all the moves:

Tavares signed for 13mil 7 years
Karlsson trade never happens
Sharks overreacted to missing on Tavares, and extended Couture. In this scenario he leaves in FA. Also Stutzle is not included because who knows how this team would have finished,

Opinion: This team is worse. The forward depth is better and has some nice pieces to replace injured players but the D is much worse

I like this team better, now and long term better than the current Sharks team.

Couture leaving in FA would be a pretty big blow. Not sure if that would happen.

I think this is overall a better team though. Little weaker at D but also more well rounded. Forward group is better in my opinion. Having couture resigned and moving someone else out would make it even better. The goalies are still hot garbage but what are you gonna do. Prospect pool is easily much better too.

I would much rather this team than the current team. The current team is sunk for the next 5 years.

The Sharks for some reason love having a great well rounded top line then let the second line be carried by the center. This is prolly what the lines would look like

First of all, "prolly" is actually probably.
Second of all, not suggesting you think the opposite and I understand you point, but Tavares is better.
Third of all, nobody in the right mind pays 13 million dollars to get a player, only to put him on line 2.

I'm glad you explained your thoughts, and I think they are fair, but it just defies logic to me.

Well currently on the Sharks, Hertl>Couture, I don't think anyone disagrees. But the team loved giving Couture: Meier and Labanc as wingers. Where as Hertl got Kane then absolutely no help. Also DW reportedly offered 13 mil to Tavares, and it wouldn't be shocking if the team structured lines like this. Despite Hertl being 2nd line center he usually played more minutes because he played all special teams.

Oh, ok. I guess the rangers have Panarin on the second line so it makes sense.
