Archibald played among the most minutes on their PK (close to 50%) and was a big part of making it one of the best in the league. He did that under a low cost, 1.5 mil aav, while putting up a decent amount of points. People on here underestimate his contributions to the team last season just because he doesn't have a bigger number of points. He shows up as being traded away in most Oilers AGMs while being one of the members the team can least afford to trade away after the losses their PK have taken during the offseason/the Klefbom injury.

Kings taking on Neal's contract for this return might be enough to get Rob Blake fired, seeing as he has tried to shed bad contracts since coming to the Kings. Taking on $7M of cap for one season is worth a 1st (2021) and a sweetener, add two years of Neal at $5.75M will cost you another first. This is the cap crunch, and those with cap space will be charging highly. No one is biting at a first for Loui Erickson at 6Mx2, you won't move Neal unless you give up more.

The difference between Neal and Eriksson is Neal still has some value yes both players are greatly overpaid but Neal put up 19 goals if he made 3 mil know one would bat a eye at that if Eriksson made 3 mil he’d still be ridiculously overpaid

Neal scored 19 goals last season and 7 before that, either way, he is a player who is trending downwards and the value of his contract is progressively getting worse. The Kings on the other hand understand that they are not playoff-bound this season (and probably not next), taking on Neal or Erickson doesn't really change that trajectory except for a few percentage points considering the lottery. Also keep in mind, the first big contract Vilardi will get paid in 2022-23, so the Kings will only look for cap dumps under 2 years. So let's say AEG allows the Kings to take on bad contracts, they will try to take on the worst contracts short term (under 2 years) for the best haul. The Kings are amongst the few teams with cap space over the next few years who all understand several teams are against the cap, the question isn't if you think Neal and a 1st is worth it, it's that do you think the Kings can't get a better offer than a first rounder in 2023 (likely in the 20s) to take on $18M in cap space over the next 3 years.

slepy isn't coming. He's settled in Russia
Can't tullio spend another season in junior
Savoie is probably spend a couple of seasons in denver
Konovalov is probably gonna come over given how little playing time he has been given in the KHL
Boston with klefbom missing this entire year isn't gonna do this deal
LA probably says no
Archi's contract isn't that bad
You probably won't get a second from Buffalo

It's just a contract, not a roster spot.
