You. Can’t. Prove. Who. Is. Better. In. Hockey.

But ya dermott isn’t even top 150 in the league.

You can prove everything in hockey with the current stats tbh.

Anyone can prove that Pietrangelo is better than Jack Johnson

Dahlin is someone who has all the skill and potential in the world, but hasnt put it together just yet. I would expect him to make the jump next year. Doughty has just been bad for the last 2 years. And provorov is decent, but a lot of his points come on the powerplay where he isnt generating much, but getting really lucky

Dermott has been great defensively in the last 2 years and shown that he can provide offensively as well while being great in transition

I watched practically every leaf game last year bro, and even though dermott is improving, he doesn’t belong on this list lol

Tell you what. Why don’t you tell me what your favorite stat website is. That way, if for some reason i ever want your opinion, i can just look it up without bothering you! Think about that. Your brain is easily replaceable by a few lines of HTML.

Give me the website, it can replace everything you have to offer. Bye now.

This guy is pretty insufferable, i don’t blame him. And its not like he’s annoying but brings something to the table. Everything he brings to this forum can literally be replaced by a stat website. Ignore is probably the way to go with him. I’ll likely join.

You think the stats come out of nowhere, but they actually reflect the on ice results of the players...
And I dont just use stats. If I did, I would say Philipn Danault is a top 5 centre in the league and Valeri Nichushkin is the best winger in the league

But of you are interested, the best places to find advanced stats are evolving hockey, hockey viz, moneypuck, naturalstattrick. Theres also many good twitter people that have their own models/stats like Corey Sznadjer, JFreshhockey, HBF Analytics

And of you want to learn how the stats work, go to hockey-graphs.com and read up some of their writeups

Theres a lot of good hockey accounts on instagram if you use that. @hockeytapetalk @puck_analysis @hockey_sensei @hbf_analytics @nbi_hockey @hockeyanalysis @talkinghockey

QoC isnt that important when you use isolated stats like I do

Dunn could be playing against anyone, and the stats would be the same because at the end of the day, its just his results that arent influenced by anyone else

Dunn is elite defensively while Heiskanen is slightly above average and depends on Jamie Oleksiak to be his safety blanket on defense

Heiskanen is definitely better in transition and is a better skater, but that doesnt have much impact on the overall game.

Dunn has an almost double xGAR, and is better in pretty much every aspect of xGAR and RAPM

What are you referring to when saying safety blanket on defense?

Heiskanen wouldnt be as free to roam offensively if he didnt have a really good defensive defenseman as his d-partner

I thought you meant good in his own zone, cause he creates a lot of turnovers. But at shutting down players (his size helps) if Heiskanen gets caught, yes I agree 100%.

Yeah that too. Oleksiak covers for him a lot. But Heiskanen knows he can be a little more creative in the o-zone because he knows that he has Oleksiak

Honestly, you are the one being an asshole in this thread.

You can entirely disagree with him and analytics or whatever, sure. That's allowed. But you've spent like 3 pages accosting him about it, for having the audacity to not agree with the unwritten consensus on this site. I don't agree with what deys3232 says, but I can at least respect him for having a methodology and backing up what he's saying. All he's been asking you is to back up your arguments.

I genuinely think a lot of people use the ignore list because they can't control themselves when someone else disagrees with them. I know like that too sometimes, and I've been trying to just not get involved with a lot of shouting matches here because there are more worrisome things than what someone thinks about my favorite team on Capfriendly.
