Lots of Sharks fans declining here but would Wilson? If he doesn't salvage their situation he probably gets fired and they start a new era fresh. 2 years ago they won 50 games with awful goaltending but their current skater core is patchy with limited depth.

I could absolutely see him making a myopic move like that to stay afloat. Otherwise they win 30 games and upper mgmt lose faith in him. It'll get very ugly fast.

I think the Buffalo trade can be simplified down to just xx for Raanta. I'm not really sure what adding those defensemen does for either team.

How about this:
Arizona gives: Antti Raanta

Buffalo gives: Jonas Johansson + 2022 3rd that becomes a 2021 2nd if Raanta plays 25 games.

I know people like to bag on Doug Wilson, but if you don't think his strategy as a GM hasn't been influenced by Hasso's expectations of the team then you're a damn fool. Think what you will about him as a GM, even his dumbest trades didn't come with retaining $6 million in salary for the next four years and then $3.5 million for an additional two years, especially not when it would cost a fraction of that to just, like, buy Jones out after this season if he doesn't show improvement.
