I dont think ANA does that and from NYR prospective I think just asset management wise if they are trading tony they should get either a good center prospect or good picks

I would prefer to trade Tony as the main piece to fill 1LD or 2C. Im not looking for futures from him personally.

Won’t be Boston unless they are beset by injuries. They are set at the 2 spots he plays.

Lindholm and DeAngelo are both signed for only one more year, so Anaheim wouldn't be interested in downgrading significantly from one to the other in return for only an unsigned B- prospect and a future second.

First... Why are we retaining salaries.. Retention is for buffing up the return in a deal, or because of a bad contract.. Neither is a bad contract. When everyone on this site was claiming Strome and ADA would be getting 6-7M because of their points and they both signed under 5M for 2 years.. If these deals are made at next years TDL then maybe but why would we resign them both to then retain 1/2 the money??? makes 0 sense. Sure Strome isn't as good as having Tavares/Drais as your 2nd C but that's not something all teams have or NEED. Strome and Bread click well and they are both responsible for each others success this past season(career highs for both) and Kakko/Fast had nothing to do with this. When Kakko improves more and this line becomes lethal and $ friendly we will be in a good spot... By no means are these 2 perfect but common, what you get at 4.5M is nice. NJ did a deal like this with coleman and in return they got their pick, but they are also a few years behind NYR with the rebuilding. We can't waste more of Bread or Zibby in their prime..

Strome isnt the 2C next season. If retaining 50% gets you a 1 for him, you do it, its buying a first round pick. Same theory with Tony. Its very short term retention in years that wont be cap strapped anyway. Retain to increase returns on both, since both are leaving.

Read the description? Solve 2C hole in coming off season is my plan. This AGM assumes the Rangers are not a 2021 playoff team and sell off again.

Buyout money is dead money. Retention to improve return is not the same, its using financial resources to improve asset return.

Oh I read it but the issue is there aren't many options if any that were better... I was hoping more thought went into it then in the offseason we will find a magic lamp and rub it

Cool feedback guy. Aren't you just a spectacular addition to the discourse.
