Quoting: Jamiepo
Not a worry for me anyways. Matthews loves it in Toronto and Arizona can’t afford him and most likely won’t have a team when his contract expires.
Fiala is a decent player for sure. Is he the type of guy you build a team around? I think that is the wild’s problem right now. They don’t have the players to build a team around.
They are stuck in a weird limbo where you can’t tell if they need to burn it to the ground or add pieces.
It’s not like they want ufa Hyman.

I definitely think Fiala is a piece of the future and someone you build around if he continues his recent success. 30 points in his last 22 games is definitely encouraging. Is he a face of the franchise type guy? I don't think so but he's most definitely a valuable piece for the future.
And as for guys to build around if Fiala isn't included in that, there's Marco Rossi & Kirill Kaprizov. I don't feel as if they need much for introductions but I'm happy to talk about them.
Some pieces already in the organization to build around them with include: Matthew Boldy, Adam Beckman, Alexander Khovanov, Marat Khusnutdinov, Calen Addison, Brennan Menell and Ryan O'Rourke. Even Joel Eriksson Ek and Jordan Greenway could be key pieces of the future if they continue to develop. And they may not even truly be needed if the prospects develop.
To me, it's about finding the right goaltending and living out these bad contracts. Fenton sure didn't help with the latter. Kahk and/or Jones could be the guy(s) but I still think a Jesper Wallstedt would be perfect.
I think the Wild have enough pieces within the organization to put a really good team together.
I think the covid season is hurting them tho. Normally they're in a better division, but with the changes (new division, 4 teams make it) I think the plan is a little harder to execute. Before, it was easy to not be right there for playoffs, even if the team was competitive, making it easier for Guerin to sell off the expiring contracts at the deadline. Now, it looks like they're probably locked into that 4 spot. Imo, the only roster that could beat them rn is ARZ, but I'd give it to MIN and don't expect the Yotes to be buyers at the deadline with them losing picks recently. So the next team up and only team I would really expect to be buyers are the Sharks. No way the Ducks or Kings give up futures. And I think ideally the Yotes and Wild are sellers. So then it's San Jose who while I don't think are close to winning, may try to now too early. Their core being the reason why. Everyone is either in or exiting their prime years
So Minnesota is definitely a middling team right now, but I think there's a clear path for the future, even if it may end up getting kind of screwed just because of the state of the world right now
