Welcome Owen Power?

Ya know, for whatever reason, I can just never believe the hawks will be BAD ENOUGH for Owen power. I can top 5-6 pick, but 1-2 pick? A few teams are still on pole position for that in my mind.

Look at the goaltending. I’m not sure they’re gonna be able to stop beach balls. And the division will be pretty strong

You’re totally right! Don’t get me wrong. However, with toews and Kane still around, the towel will never be fully thrown in much less a full rebuild be committed to. Yes, the goaltending may be god awful, but this season may be a test and display of the wills that Kane and toews still possess.

What about the rest of this team? Where's Strome?

As for Owen Power. I agree he'll be near the very top as I have him going #1 right now, BUT this next draft will be a giant crap shoot 1-10ish. Raty was the supposed #1 OA for all of last year and now I see some people have him outside the top TEN! So who knows???

This was only for the Dach news honestly.

Agreed on the draft. It’s a total crap shoot 1-10, however, after 10, there is a sharp drop off. That could obviously change a lot between now and then. Power to me is the big prize and the most franchise defining get in the draft. Edvinsson and Clarke should be great dmen too, and I do like Kent Johnson. However, the one to make the biggest impact and fill the biggest need is gonna be power as it stands. I think I have raty at 8-9.

I may be on an island here, but watching Michigan play, I'm really not sold on Owen Power, like at all. He has a lot of skating improvements to make and even then, I just don't like it for the hawks. I don't know when he'll be developed enough to play. I feel like he's either going to be a Hedman or a Hal Gill. No in between.

That’s very fair! Guys of his archetype are very hit or miss as you’re emphasizing. I think a great deal of players in this draft are going to have hard seasons considering the conditions that have been in place (COVID, delayed/cancelled seasons, so on). Power has had huge leaps in the the past two years as is. Having a down period where things he needs to improvement are highlighted are not uncommon. Don’t forget Dach went 15 games for the blades with I think only one point in his draft year. If the trend continues for power, teams will definitely have to judge and adjust accordingly. Time will tell.

Love the insight!

Thats a very tough call. Both have huge futures ahead of them should they pan out as they should. If Hughes is like his brother, watch the hell out! Power just has the advantage of being an NHL body out the gate and can decently move and pass already. It’s gonna be a tough call for sure.

Hughes isn't as big as Power but he's a lot bigger than his brothers

This is true, and that could work very well in his favor. Either way, I have a feeling the only path for the hawks in the next draft is LHD.

agreed. Doesn't look right now like any of the forwards are worth taking over a position of need anyways

Only one that comes remotely close in my opinion is Kent Johnson.

him and beniers are both pretty good but i would rather Hughes or Power. Add LD this year and maybe we are bad enough and lottery lucky enough to get Wright next year

I’ll be completely honest, I know this is a contradiction, but if I get the choice of a guaranteed successful tank for power/Hughes or Wright, I may have to go with Wright.
