I have a very hard time seeing Landeskog not wanting to stay in COL and them not wanting to keep him. He's the captain, they're going to win at least 1 cup in the next five years. Why would he leave that? Why would they let him go?

Plus, those are some extremely bad trades, and bad contracts.

Two of your transactions are internally illogical. Who are you protecting above and beyond your top 7 forwards in order to feel compelled to pay a second to make sure that Seattle takes Tanev? For that matter, don't you think Seattle would be charmed to get Marcus Pettersson as that reward? Then you'd save yourself the second-round pick.

All you’re giving up is a 4th and he’d be by far your best LHD. This trade is awful for pit. Sharks take that and run

No, but they'd love to have him. You've got Vlasic, with one of the ugliest contracts imaginable ($7 million for years, and an NMC to boot), and then Simek and other youngsters at LD. Pettersson would clearly be your best LD and might well play in more games than either Burns or Karlsson.

Honestly I don’t see Florida giving up it’s top prospect and a 3rd round pick for a 34 yo Letang ( Hate all you want) would be a stupid move.

none of us know what happened.
Lets not speculate.
All I know is they could have offered him substantially more on a 1 year deal and I think he would have taken it. I mean, who doesn't like more money for a short season.
But here we are.

Makes too much money. I know its a good deal but some other team would be in long before the sharks

Yeah but where is the money for that coming in? You should not be spending 75% of your cap on D
