"Dougie wants to stay". Until he signs a contract, I don't know why you say that.

Only a fool believes what a player, coach, or GM says it public especially about contracts. It's all for public consumption. Very few players publicly say "they want out".
    Let's see a signed contract.

Doesn't really matter if he is loved in NC, it's whether he loves being a Cane. That's the factor Hamilton will decide. I'll agree that Hamilton just might like being a Cane and sign a contract..
Sorry I was giving you valid advice. Only a fool believes what a player, coach or GM says publicly. But enjoy your life believing everything that is said in the media. Media needs low IQ people believing anything that written or broadcast. Gee, you make a a two posts a week, and this is the best you can do?

he wants to stay but sadly they wont have the space for him unless they want to sacrifice elsewhere as they got some big names to sign among other things. Sure Seattle can take someone but Geekie or Bean is more likely to be taken over Gardiner. Carolina had 28 mill in cap but to sign a new starting goalie, Svechnikov, Foegele, and others wont be cheap.

Oh look, it's a Leafs fan talking about contract negotiations. He knows all about those. They've gone so well for his team in the past

I think Waddell can get it done, especially if what Hamilton is saying about wanting to stay is true. Niedereitter or Gards will probably be a cap casualty but that's okay, I'd rather have Dougie and Svech resigned than those guys.

Yes, I do know about contract negotiations. If you believe what is said in the media as a basis of contract, good for you.

Just read what I wrote. Just don't believe what players, coaches or GMs say to the media. Thought any knowledgable sports fan have doubts when players say " I want to stay with this team" and then they sign elsewhere as a UFA. We've heard that often
GM say " Our coach is going to remain our coach", and then the coach is fired two weeks later.. The precedent is set.
By the way, I do think Hamilton will sign with the Canes. He might not have many better options next season with so many teams near the cap. Grab the opportunity in these Covid might be his better option also.

Why are the Canes trading the equivalent of two 1sts for a goalie that has yet to play more than 40games in a season?

Pick one, not both. Goalies just don’t carry that sort of value.

Worth it. Arizona needs 1st rounder and late round prospect should be fine, Canes need top goalie as last piece
