Description

I think aiming for veterans pieces or past their prime starts could be a good option to help Ottawa's prospects evolve in a winning environment.

I think Toews would make an interesting candidate as Chicago are rebuilding. I don't know if the trade is any good. Comment what you would change.

Toews is hurt for this season, so he is out for this season, but will be back next season and the cap will be fine that way

I figured after the fact that the first round pick would be probably top5... so yeah. But do you agree that getting a good leader like Toews would be a good addition

We are not trading Bernard Docker and probably Formenton as well tho. And that 1st round pick is a no go unless it’s for a young guy like Dubois or better

If you attach Seabrook's negative value to Toews, unfortunately for Chicago, the return would be almost non-existent.

Ottawa has the assets to target high end players that are still in their prime. No point throwing a bunch of assets to get a player that, realistically, isn't going to be the difference between the basement and the playoffs. I love Toews, but this would be a bad, bad deal for Ottawa.

I was sort of thinking of Ottawa as a PLD destination, but I'm assuming he'd be just as unhappy there as he is in Columbus, given his desire to play on a bigger stage.

Stepan might not be the player he once was, but he's the guy the Sens got to be a leader on this team. It wouldn't be a good idea to trade JBD because there's still no knowing his ceiling. Every year he seems to push his ceiling up a little bit higher.

Incorred; Toews is NOT out for the season. There is no determination when he will return; could be 2 weeks, 2 months or the season but it's not determined yet as he has kept private what the condition he is dealing with is and reports are the doctors don't know yet.
