Winnipeg had Stastny so where does PLD even fit in, and as far as Laine is considered he's a third line winger with an elite shot. That's literally it.

So what's your thinking? You can't just throw out a title and leave us hanging.

I have a feeling it's not gonna work for either team. Laine sure can shoot. He's not anything more than a third liner with a shot. PLD I'm not sure where he actually fits into the roster. You have Mark Scheifele, Paul Stastny, and Pierre-Luc Dubois. And oh a cap hell in the matter of 2 years. You still don't really have a defense. I'm just not sure how this actually works out for Winnipeg.

I can see dubois long term in winnipeg I can see laine not lasting in columbus so i think we need to wait and see how it goes.

mmmm not really Laine really does suck in every other category besides shooting, and PLD isn't a true 1C, and if you want to put him on the line with Ehlers suit yourself but I doubt it works out for either of them on that line.

Laine may not be a complete player but he is far from a 3rd liner. And PDL is absolutely a 1c.

You're right he's far from a 3rd liner. He's a 4th Liner, who is good on the Powerplay.

Roslovic wasn't going to play a game for them, so they lose a elite winger for what can become an elite centerman. They might be the deepest team down the middle (Scheifele, Dubois, Stastny, Lowry, Thompson)

Laine isn't an Elite winger. He's a 4th Liner Powerplay Specialist with an Elite Shot.

This is why I don't trust advanced stats completely. Great players sometimes look terrible and average players sometimes look insane. The system and style of the team influences these numbers so much. For instance everyone on Carolina looks like gods from these stats but they aren't.

Yeah that's over 4 years. You can't trust the bubble. And those are isolated statlines. Based on his individual play, and no Carolina doesn't look like a God.

I think that when Stastny ages out DuBois takes over 2C but essentially the Jets are the same good-offence, poor-defence team that struck out last year. Maybe the idea is that by 2022-2023 Heinola and Samberg develop well and Pionk and DeMelo mature into true top-4 defenders and then they're set.
