This is an intriguing package for Dumba.

I don't see why you would want to move from Gostisbehere to Dumba when Dumba is a slightly better right-handed version of him. Though based on current form, I get why, but overreacting to the start of the season is not a good move.

Rubtsov probably doesn't have any value anymore.

The first will probably be late 10's so I'm not opposed to it especially considering that the draft is weak. Does Frost not have a high upside anymore, or why is he in this deal?

I think Seattle will be a big winner here.

They get the chance of taking either Sanheim or Myers off Flyers.

Philly seems like a team that could work for a Dumba trade given their young center depth and the fact Fletcher drafted Dumba to begin with, but Ghost doesn't really make sense from Minnesota's point of view. They already have Suter and Brodin on the left side signed long term so bringing in another $4.5m in LD would really hurt them, especially with Eriksson Ek, Fiala, and Kaprizov all needing new deals this summer. The problem is Philly can't take Dumba without sending back salary and there doesn't really seem to be an obvious choice from their side other than Ghost.

Would Dumba for Gostisbehere and Nolan Patrick make any sense?

Gustafsson would work, but they might not be able to take on that much cap long-term.

With the way Patrick has played I'd definitely consider it. Guerin would have to feel really confident that he will stay healthy though.

Dumba slightly younger and more well rounded, a RD whoi can play top 2 pairings, which Philly lacks.

Ghost has played solid since return from COVID and is over the injuries of the past 2 yrs, BUT, he is a risky proposition to return to the 60+ PT form he had 2 yrs back, therefore the low 1st rounder and one of the best forward prospects around is included. Frost looks so good, but in Philly hes buried by the depth (youngsters Lindblom, Farabee, Patrick and vets Hayes, Coots, Giroux, JVR, Voracek are all top 6 guys). Frost has top 6 offensive talent, but like a lot of guys out of juniors, not a solid defensive game.

He is Philly's 13th forward, but with JVR, Lindblom and Patrick all playing so well, Frost is on the outside looking in.

Patrick is playing great right now and is looking like the 2nd overall pick he was and is the heir apparent for Coots or 2nd line Center, so he carries too much value. As much as PHI needs a solid 20+ minute a night RD, I don't think Patrick is traded for one.

Gus could well be dealt instead of Ghost, but IMO Ghost has more value, as hes more likely to have the better offensive AND defensive upside.

As far as expansion goes, PHI is protecting Sanheim, Provorov and Myers no doubt. If they were to take on Dumba, they'd be forced to work a deal with Seattle to take a forward, (but then PGHI would have a defense of youngsters Provo/Sanheim/Myers/Dumba/Hagg with Cam York, Zamula, Wyatt Wylie on the way, so easily are potentially set on the blueline for 3-4 yrs.

As much as PHI would like to have Dumba, I can't see them moving Patrick (or Farabee) to get him. Not only are they extremely cap healthy but both are just skimming the surface of their upside and with JVR, Voracek, and Giroux all getting older, I don't think Philly moves Patrick.

Cant help to think this is huge overpayment for a guy minnesota is going to lose in the expansion draft if they dont trade him.

Concidering he aint that much better than a healthy Ghost

I don't disagree too much. The key for Philly is to get a top or second pairing RD who can play 20 minutes a night and can play defense. A few guys that come to mind in Philly's price bracket are Dumba, Risto, possibly Montour.

The key is that Dumba would be an upgrade and is a RD. Ghost, while not the negative value some see, is never going to improve his trade value on the third pairing getting 14-15 minutes a night, behind Provorov and Sanheim.

Its a steep price, but Dumba is a solid RD
