I'm probably guilty of being too high on him, but I'd consider doing a Goodrow type of deal if he is retained on and the Leafs can talk to him beforehand and come to an understanding on a new deal that pays him less than what he is currently making.

there is nothing there worth a 2nd round pick.
Bennett struggled last year too, His value is not that high. I'd put him on par with Jankowski value wise. He's a guy playing his way off a roster.'
Nesterov has no real value.

While I don't think Lafferty has any value about 4th liner, nothing CGY is including is worth a 2nd as one guy is a fill in 7th guy at best and the other is a 4th liner as well.

Bennett can be a 4th OA all day long. At 24 having only cracked 30 points one time his value is almost nothing.
Maybe he turns it around in a change of scene but teams aren't paying for that. The penguins have had enough of that. We got a roster full of people who need to turn it around why they hell would they give up a 2nd for another. Jankowski ain't turning it around, Matheson is on IR so we can't even see if he can manage to turn it around. Last thing they need is another turn it around guy.

Well, the Goodrow deal, was:

To Tampa: Goodrow, 3rd

To Sharks: 1st, Greco.

Something like:

To Leafs: Bennett, 3rd

To Flames: 1st, career AHL'er

That trade would scare me, but I wouldn't immediately dismiss it. I'd really like to see Bennett get it together before then, though. Would hope for some performance conditions.

and yet you post nothing to the contrary
no hockey argument coming at all.
Because there isn't one to be made. Bennett has struggled for multiple years now. He's had one playoff performance and that's it. But that isn't convincing anyone he's got value. Because we've see the other end of it. You can start the convo with bust at this point. Because when you are trading a 4OA for a 4th liner and a 2nd that's where we are at.
Bennett wouldn't beat out Blueger at this point for a 3C position, and the whole need of the penguins is to actually get a 3C instead of having their 4C play that role.
Which is where this whole conversation ends. He's not worth a 2nd.

1 playoff performance? He's been the best player for Calgary 2 years in a row during the playoffs, he was also solid in 16/17. As for Nesterov, he would literally be top 4 on your team. He has been quite good so far this year and is in no way a #7. If you don't want to offer what Bennett is worth then kindly leave

12 points in 52 games last year.
0 in 5 this year.
27 in 71 two years ago
26 in 82 the year before that....... I mean really you want to start talking worth.
The guy had 1, and I do mean 1 good playoffs. 14-15 was ok....and I mean ok... everything else was like nothing 4-5 games... If your best playoff performance two years ago was 5 games and 1 goal it's no surprise you found an exit quickly. When other teams play that bad they find an exit quickly too. I know, I've seen my own team do it. But at least I'm honest about it. Pull off the goggles.
You're over valuation on a guy is insane. Hell like every other CGY acgm has him being traded out. Look at those point totals above and it's not hard to figure out why.
You are attached to a draft ranking. That's gone. It's what you DO on the ice that counts and that above ain't all of much.

To say Nesterov would be top 4 on the penguins is a joke. Yeah when half the team is on IR maybe. We ain't making trades based on guys being on IR.
He don't even crack the top 3 if the team is healthy at this point. He ain't better than Dumo, He ain't better than MP, and he don't look no better than POJ right now.
he's a 7th guy. It's like me saying Riikola could be top 4 on a team and demanding a 2nd round pick. Are you kidding me. He ain't worth that. It ain't even close.
FFS the guy is 27 years old, came back on a league min deal and you over here...."he's top 4" squinty smile

Sam might be the next Duclair or AA or ____________.

Tough call.

Need to find a partner that's a) struggling or b) has positional &/or draft-capital depth (US$2.5M can't be discounted in COVID world)...
TBH - Bennett's stock is fairly low let's be honest (369NHL games - he is what he is)!

By League Standings:
A) Struggling (and maybe thought they wouldn't be) = NYR, Carolina, EDM, NYI...
B) Depth &/or Cap Room...OTT (Colin White deals are maybe do-able), NYR has young depth @ D, EDM and CAL trade again LOL,, ANA has young skater depth, BOS has young LD depth etc etc.
