NYR know what Wall should become.

If I were you, sign Wedgewood 4 years around 2M. He has done well with Blackwood out

I hope NSH does everything they can to sign Farrance. I think he’ll be a solid top 4 defender in the NHL

Wedgewood is barely an AHL starter why on earth give him more than minimum?

I saw him play a little and he looked alright.. 1.5M/1M whatever helps you sleep at night kid. Don't sign him and find a different guy for all I care.

Potential NCAA free agent? Why wouldn't their teams just sign them if they're so good?

I'm a Leafs fan it makes zero difference to me. But offering an ahler a 4 year deal let alone anything over 1 million is terrible. Just not sure why you suggested it.

Because he's their 2nd string G with a 2.8GAA and .901 sv% in the toughest division in the NHL. As NJ gets better he will be just fine as #2 and on a low $ contract. BLackwood is clearly going to be a 6m+ G and play 80% of the games. Next year he will face the bad teams like DET/OTT/etc. If you want to argue over where his salary lands between 1M and 2M or how many years then go for it!! knock yourself out

Some of these guys are not under the radar. Hell, Emilio Pettersen had a prospect thread on HFB created for him when he was like 8 years old. We’ve got Hobey Baker college guys and some first round draft picks. Maybe underrated is more the term you’re looking for.

He has been fantastic! But 4 years is like a decade in goalie years.

Yeah, short-term, two-way...let him earn his spot.

Haven't seen either of Aaron Dell or Giles Senn yet either. And Nico Daws is #2 of future.

Yes....unheralded, underrated, underappreciated....kind of a mixed bag of all those. I didn't want to post a 'favorite prospects' and list Zegras, Seider, Caufield, Newhook, etc. Everyone likes those guys. Also, anyone who is known just by their initials, such as MEP, probably isn't really 'under the radar'. But I think, I hope, people understood what I was going after here.

Dude 0.901 is awful. His last three years in the AHL he has had 0.893, 0.908, and 0.901. Only 0.908 would be acceptable in the NHL, 0.892 and 0.901 is unnaceptable. So you're logic is to give a bad AHL goaltender a 4 year contract, for being poor but acceptable for 5 games in the NHL. It makes no sense.

A 0.901 save percentage last year would have made him the 48th best goalie. That is him playing above anything he's ever done before. Why would they invest in this?

48/62 isn't bad for a nothing back up on a bad team that's only improving.. Look around the nhl and you can find many with lower save %... Less than 2M salary isn't an investment kid.. let's say 1M salary so you can breathe. His save% is better than Freddy Andersen, Braden Holtby, Mikko Koskinen, Matt Murray, Carey Price for starters... That's 5 G in a weaker division, Starters all making over 2M...

Yeah but thats the best he's ever been. He's been a barely 0.900 AHL goaltender. There is zero reason to believe he's better than replacement level in the future. Just no reason to invest in that... I would not sign him for over 700k because there is simply no reason.

Bud, you guys gave Marner millions more than he's worth, sure he finally looks like a 10M player(for 10 games) but you're getting your knickers in a knot over a few 100K.. this is just petty. The kid will never compete with Blackwood but he's be solid as a back up this year.. They aren't tossing 4M at him, he's 30 and although G develop later it's not worth it. As they get better and his numbers look good they can flip him for a pick. Sort of like Campbell

Who says I think marners contract is good.

I'm not even arguing the cost with you.

I'm arguing you thinking he's an NHL goaltender. He's not.

Right now he is definitely an NHL goalie! He has been pretty solid. Two weeks from now? No idea. And that's the issue.
If he keeps it up all year, he could get 2 years at $1 million. But more likely a two-way deal close to league minimum.

Only thing is ...if we keep the 3rd goalie rule for a couple more seasons...he seems tailor-made as a cheap, veteran #3...

? He's 1-3-1 with a pretty meh stat line. Every goalie goes a hot streak. Why reward a guy for 4 years for a meh hot streak.

Look this conversation is done. Somehow you think a guy playing almost kind of okay for 5 games when he's been a borderline ahler before that is worth signing him to term for...reasons.

Good luck with thay

Sure, if he does that power to him. But the original comment was to sign him for 4 years at 2 million per year. That's crazy talk

There's an assumption he continues to play like that... I'm not sure why you are such an angry child but you should find someone to talk to..
