Does Holloway come for cup of Coffee once Big 10 is over

Description
Excuse my lack of knowledge on the Wisconsin season, but from their schedule it looks like the Big 10 tournament ends on March 20th. Is that the end of their season? Can he sign with Edm right after if he wants to turn pro, and come get a cup of coffee like Cale Makar did?

He's at 23 points in 12 games and probably has nothing more to do at that level after this year, so unless he really wants to continue his degree (which is a fully great option), he may want to turn pro. Maybe we see him in Edm since the regular season goes all the way until May 7th? Might be the best for his development to get some more looks in before a big gap in playing until September.

Of course. Did Makar burn a year of ELC when he played 10 playoff games?

For makar Playing 1 game burned his 1st year of his elc bc he wasn’t slide eligible.

What you can do with him is also have him sign an ATO for the teams ahl team to get more pro hockey

If Oilers think he helps now, they play hm and don't worry about the one year slide.

There aren't a whole lot of players that can come in and immediately make an impact like Makar did. Plus Holland likes to let prospects over ripen before calling them up

Playoff games do count towards an ELC-slide, in the event Holloway's contract is slide-able

Yes Holland steering the ship makes this much less likely. An AHL stint is definitely more likely, and would also be great.

I agree Makar was a rare talent where this made sense. But if Holloway keeps up anywhere near this pace...it will be pretty historic. I really wasn't expecting this level of offense, he's obviously got quite the extra gear.

Holland is very good when it comes to player management. But like Colorado, Edmonton has a lot of talent which helps a lot. Less pressure allowing Holloway to come out and play his game.

If Turris can turn things around a little, I am excited to see if Holloway on his wing next year would be a fit for Holloway's first year in the league. Easier minutes for Holloway to start, helping Turris on the defensive side. With Kass on the other wing, could actually work well. Here's hoping!

True, but he has said all along that he's happy to give a guy a spot if he's ready. At the same age Larkin went to the AHL for the playoffs (Detroit didn't qualify, so he couldn't go there) and then was in the NHL at 19.

He turns 20 in September, so he's not slide eligible.

Makar also played 2 years of college post draft though, not the same situation exactly.

I'd look at the way Holland treated Larkin:

- played draft+1 in NCAA
- signed his ELC May 21 after U of M season was over
- played in the AHL playoffs immediately (Detroit wasn't an option as they didn't qualify for the postseason)
- made the NHL roster out of training camp in the fall

Oh, and Larkin's NCAA season was less impressive than Holloway's, too:

DL: 35, 15-32-47 +18 (1.34 P/GP)
DH: 12, 7-16-23 +10 (1.92 P/GP)

A few other things to consider:

- Holloway is physically stronger than Larkin was at the same age
- Holloway has completed his 2nd year at the NCAA level due to a late birthday - Larkin only had one
- Holloway is a more complete player as regards defensive ability, at least by reputation, than Larkin was

I don't think Holland will keep Holloway back if he feels Holloway is ready to help the NHL team. Of course, he'll have to weigh in (a) the quarantine period for Holloway to even come to Canada and (b) the Oilers position in the standings, maybe that influences him to send Holloway to Bakersfield for the AHL playoffs instead.
