Hasn't Virtanen been struggling to even get on the 4th line for the Canucks? Why would he instantly be a 2nd line option in Toronoto? Yes Gaudette is a cheaper 3c option but I'd say a downgrade over Kerfoot. Leafs decline quickly on this proposal.

Still playing 12 minutes a night. Not putting up offence, but when you check out his usage, he's gone from starting 52% in the O-zone last year, to 42.3% this year. He's actually putting up similar possession numbers as Kerfoot, with Virtanen getting the nod for a better CF rel%.

I wouldn't make this deal if I were Vancouver.

CF rel% isn't the best way to compare players across teams, especially with such a wide gap between CF% performance between Toronto and Vancouver. The fact that Virtanen has a negative CF rel% on the 29th ranked team in CF% isn't a good sign.

True, but he's also starting 58% of his shifts in the d-zone. Not great usage for a guy that's never shown that he's a shutdown winger. I'd also take last years 69 (niiiice) game sample over the 12 that he's played so far this season.

Realistically, I see this as a 2 Ok players for 1 ok player trade, which doesn't help Vancouver, and sort of maybe helps Toronto. I just really don't think Kerfoot > Virtanen/Gaudette

For sure, wasn't disagreeing with the value being a bit unbalanced there. Feels like Vancouver might want to shore up their defensive woes instead of adding a forward.

Agreed. I really do think that this is a 1 year blip on the radar for them though. If I'm them, I'm buying out Loui (Saves 2 mil in space next season), and attempting to get Seattle to take Beagle/Roussel (For whatever pick/picks.
