Ottawa doesn’t need Jensen, as they have Zaitsev, Gudbranson, Zub, Josh Brown on the right side, and Chabot, Brannstrom, Reilly, Wolanin, Coburn on the left, that’s nine defenceman, don’t need a tenth.

Hogbergs been bad, but they’re not trading a good pick in a bad year when they have several other young goalies to play the occasional backup game.

They do NOT need goalie help. They have Samsonov and Vanecek is doing really freakn well. He's faltered the last couple games but expected with a rookie goalie.

The late first is a good start, but Panik doesn't close the deal, and I don't see the A prospect in your system that you'd be willing to part with that would finish it. (I can't see you parting with either McMichael or LaPierre.)

I know the Hank situation was nobody's fault and a freak thing, but what contending team has two (well almost) rookie goalies? I mean, is this year another cup run or not? Not sure what to think this year...

I'm sure it's been done before. Goalie's are voodoo, as long as they do their thang they'll be fine. They Copley to play as well just in case anything happens. I'm not against getting help but I'm not spending a 1st, 2nd, or good prospect to do it.

Sounds like COVID hit Samsonov pretty hard. Vanecek has been solid but he’s not going to take over games very often. I get to watch Kuemper all the time and he is exactly what we need. You know what you are going to get out of him each night and he’s under contract at a good number for next year which is arguably the end of the Caps window. I’d go all in on him if i was GMBM.

Caps desperately need their picks and prospects. Should only move them for something they definitely need and they definitely don't need a goalie unless Sammy comes back and sucks.

I think the Caps' issues aren't stemming from goaltending, but from defensive zone play. Caps are 22nd in the NHL for high danger chances for percentage at 47.78% at 5 on 5 play and 25th in expected goals for percentage at 46.46%. Also routinely giving up more scoring chances than they're producing.

Caps need to get stronger defensively. Schultz being out has hurt (didn't imagine I'd say that prior to the season), but if the team can start suppressing more scoring chances and high danger chances, a combination of Samsonov and Vanecek should be able to pick up the slack.
