I hope Forsberg gets moved. I had/have a gut feeling that he will be.

Can't see the Leafs trading two starters, including a long term starting LHD plus a first round pick for one year of Forsberg, Besides it doesn't work for the expansion draft.

Trade is done after the expansion draft.

Dunno if Leafs would actually do the trade, but imo the value is close to apt.

Assuming Nashville offloads contracts this deadline, what do Preds fans see as their needs?

    Center prospects.

Their C prospect pool is terrible.

for rentals, I don't think you'd get a good centre prospect

I don't think they do. Dubas doesn't appear to be keen on rentals

    Depends on the rental.

Naturally if they start dealing assets like Ekholm and Forsberg during 2020-21 deadline, then there should be no problem. At 1,5 years they will absolutely bring them some good C prospects.

I think Granlund would be the first to go. Capable top 6 forward that's a pending UFA. Forsberg and Ekholm would be more of an off-season move to get as many suitors in as possible

I can. They have an open slot in the ExD for a D-man, and their team is lacking a puck moving D. The vacancy left by Toews needs filling.

That seems like an awful lot for 20 games or so of Mikael Granlund and 100 games of Mattias Ekholm.

I honestly really like the Rangers trade, obviously Troubas NMC would determine the outcome but I would really want a different position besides RHD from Nashville even though I think Fabaro has a lot of potential

    Ehh...I dunno about that.

I think of it like this:

Bellows works as the compensation for taking Komarov's bad contract.

Holmström+1st for half retained Ekholm. Kinda like what TB did with Coleman. The value is pretty much the same. NYI gets a top pair D for two years for less than $2M.

    And then Aho+2nd for Granlund.

I think that the reason for the difference in our evaluations is that it's not "two years" (i.e., two full seasons) of Ekholm, it's about 100 games.

To be fair it was 1,5 years of Coleman as well for TB.

There is no way the Islanders would give up a first, a second, and 3 of their better prospects to get rid of Komarov and to get a 30-year-old D-Man (who would not be in their top pairing) and Grandlund for 20 games. They already have a somewhat lacking prospect pool, they aren't gonna trade away their future just to get even older, even if they are getting "cheap" contracts.

Consider me surprised if Ekholm gets moved for anything less. He's a great D-man.

Wouldn't call it too big of a stretch if I said he'd be the best D of NYI.

Absolutely yes for NYI, only thing that I'm hesitant about is the Holmstrom and the 1st, I'd rather give up one or the other. Or switch Holmstrom with Koivula. However, I think there will be enough cap space by the time Ekholm is up to re-sign him.

He just might be. He'd play with Dobson for sure and I can't think of a better partner for him than Eklholm. I think Pulock is better but it's really apples and oranges.
