Summer Trades

Description
Look, Eichel is an 80 point player who can score 30 goals. He is a #1C, but he is not McDavid and I think the value of a trade is going to be just a little bit more than what O'Reilly got for return. The Rangers receive their #1 center in exchange for a #2B center, a top prospect, a ready now prospect, a talented offensive dman who needs a change of scenery, a solid top 9 player who will not get the minutes here, and draft capital.

Rangers lose Howden in the expansion and try to keep Libor who has played well on the left side for bottom pair. Nils comes in and Barron is promoted.

Something else to keep in mind some of the biggest trades in the last few years:
Mark Stone: Top prospect, top 9 player, and a 2nd round pick
Karlsson: A couple of firsts and 1 top prospects, a top 9 forward with top 6 potential, and filler

Would you trade Panarin for that package?

No, but there are variables to that. One: Panarin is better than Eichel so it would obviously cost more. Two: Eichel wants out of Buffalo and the situation will not be in Buffalo's favor because he will demand a trade and he will ultimately lose trade value. Three: If Eichel were to be traded, I would assume it will be a quantity trade like this rather than quality pieces like Kakko or Laf.

Let’s just say most here completely disagree with almost everything you just said here, outside of Panarin v Eichel debate almost everything you did is exactly opposite of how a GM should act and will ultimately get that GM fired.

Not to be a d1ck, but your whole team explanation comes off as if it was written by a marketing student.

-"Look, Eichel is an 80 point player who can score 30 goals.": He had 36 goals last year, which had him on pace for 43.4 over a full season, as well as a 94 point pace.
-"He is a #1C, but he is not McDavid": You're not wrong. He's arguably the 6th best center in the league.
-"I think the value of a trade is going to be just a little bit more than what O'Reilly got for return": O'Reilly was coming off of a 61 point season in Buffalo, and the Sabres allowed themselves to get f*cked on that trade.
-"#2B center,": You mean 3C. That's the easier way to describe that.
-"a top prospect": Not saying that Kravtsov isn't good, but didn't he have a ridiculous 7 game span in the KHL to start the season, and then...nothing...
-"a ready now prospect": Who projects to be a bottom 6 forward.
-"a talented offensive dman who needs a change of scenery": He's had a few of those. Could also read "A POS, who is an offensive dman".
-"a solid top 9 player who will not get the minutes here": Isn't Reunanen a dman?
    -"and draft capital.": Good.

Not nearly enough for Jack Eichel, And how are the Rangers going to afford Eiche's $10 million cap hit along with giving Fox, Kakko and Lafreniere big money down the road?

Look the last two statements were more fact than me pulling stuff from no-where. Elliot Friedman said that teams are not going to give up their top prospects and young players it just wont happen. Then the other statement. A GM's job is to get the best possible return and it is what management thinks is the best return. His trade value will go down if 1 his play continues to struggle, and 2 he can make things difficult for the gm and be specific. He will ultimately get a large return as he is a very good player.

Now your second comment. I only say that because what most people think Eichel's trade value is that of an extreme caliber player, which Eichel is not for the moment. I say 2B because Strome just needs another solid player for him to perform better. He is capable of being a 2C but isn't a long term option for the Rangers. Kravtsov is probably a top 2 prospect for the Rangers only behind Nils right now, but has been hurt and getting injured as of late. Ready now prospect is Tarmo, the offensive dman in Deangelo how as 4th in d scoring last year. Still will have value after time passes. Top 9 player is Gauthier and draft capital as most trades now need.

You forgot 4. Eichel can ask out but the Sabres don't have to trade him until the right deal comes along. They have till after next season when his NMC kicks in and they are limited to the teams he hands in. If I'm the GM and he wants out I trade him out west
