Description
This is a big if Anderson, Hallinder, Sandin, Liljegren are NHL ready. Although I could see all of them on the Leafs minus Hallinder if they didn't have the depth in front of them. Andersen's numbers haven't been all that much better since he signed his contract, so a slight raise on a bridge deal. Lehtonen and one of the rookies could split time; Liljegren has been amazing so far in the AHL (6 points in 8 games) and Sandin has been injured. Staal is a show me contract and could put up big numbers on a top line. Boyd has earned 4th line spot. Holl taken in expansion draft, would rather keep the younger Dermott.

Staal on a "show me contract" ??? He's 36 years old and has been in the league, like half his life. If you don't know what he is, GMs will never know.

have u watched engvall recently. He has been very good as our 3c and has the full confidence of keefe. In general the Mikheyev-Engvall-Hyman line has been very good at both ends of the ice.

I'm talking in terms of his numbers this year, similar to a Simmonds type of deal.

Just for age, Staal is more like a Thornton type of contract. I want to win a Cup, and if I won a Cup in Toronto, I would be a hockey immortal in the Toronto area for a lifetime, like the Cup winners of the 60s are.
Simmons is younger might be going for another contract but his motivation is similar to Thornton

If Hallander is NHL ready, which alot of scouts not me are saying (ETA 1-2 years as of this past December), why not go with the cheaper option of him on the 4th and Kerfoot on the third?

Yeah but next year, who would you have Thorton, Spezza, Simmonds, or Staal? Staal's put up 8 points in 17 games on a bad Buffalo team, is younger than Thorton, Spezza (1 year), and isn't as injury prone as Simmonds.

I wasn't that big on Engvall earlier in the year, but he really seems to have found his stride. That line was fantastic tonight. I'm not sure if it's because he's just better at center or what, but far more effective. We can only hope he and Soup find some finish for their chances. Soup has had just the worst puck luck, but man he's really been good this season.

Hallander was drafted as a center but he hasnt played center for years. He mostly has played on the wing in the SHL

If you could get Big Joe, Spezza, and Staal all at, or near, league minimum, you could rotate them in and out. On paper burying them in the minors when out.

Boyd and Hallander could share duties

Leafs aren't paying to dump Engvall. He's a good 4th liner. If they don't want him they can just put him on waivers, his contract is almost fully buriable.

I don't think you know what 'show me deal' or ' bridge deal' mean.
