Old 35 year old declining malkin for 1 year with 0 retention is not worth an elite C prospect, a future top 6 scoring winger, an incredibly underrated defensive defenseman, and a 1st round pick.

It's essentially 1 year of Gino for (at minimum value) 4 1st round picks. I could see something headlined by Tippett or the 1st rounder, and then groomed around coming closer to matching up salaries, but yeah, that ain't it.
