Roussel & Eriksson both have NTC's & 2 years left on their contracts. They probably wouldn't waive to go to a losing team like Detroit but if they did Detroit asks for more for 8m in contract dumps. A first round pick + a little more.

You can not dump 9 million of cap on a team for two years for a 2nd and a 5th. Just because Wings have cap does not mean they will take that without alot more of a sweetener.

And please do not not bring up cap floor, Wings have several RFA's to sign and about 10 players to fill the lineup. Cap floor will not be a problem

Steve Yzermann isn't doing anyone salary cap favors. You'll pay a premium to dump that much salary 1&5 and prospect

Leafs really don't need Hamonic or a winger. But looks like they need Engvall. Leafs pass.

Pre covid cap freeze. Cost of cap dumps went up as salary cap froze. A lot more teams have bad contracts they want out of than teams with the ability to take them supply and demand.

Staal is 5.75 salary you are asking for 9Mz almost double the salary means double the price, nice try though

I didn't make the post, I just pointed out it cost a 2nd for 1 year of Marc Staal at $5.75
So it should cost a 2nd to dump just Ericksson.

1st Staal was a position of need, a defenseman who log minutes and help with young defensman in system. What can Eriksson teach, who to sit in the press box?

2nd it was over 5 million for 1 year not 9 million over two years. Not to be mean but see Stall is a lazy comment, meaning you know nothing about Wings other than they have cap and dump crappy contracts that does not match what you are talking about.

It is also over two years not 1. He needs to read and understand. Also Staal was brought in because he was a patron of need, log alot minutes, teach younger players, and bring experience. Ericksson brings none of that, other than sitting in PB. Sorry, but he just does not understand or know anything about Wings other than than they are bad, alot cap du.p for the same but it is not the same.

Staal cost Detroit 3.2M in salary and we needed to fill a spot anyways so remove league minimum for that second round compensation.

This ACGM is for 20-21 season so we’re talking about a trade today or TDL so prorate both Roussel and Eriksson’s salary + 4M next year for Eriksson + 1.9M next year for Roussel. Not quite sure how you’re using Staal as a baseline in this scenario when the cap and actual cash are a bit different. You’d be looking at a first round pick to dump all that cap/cash on another team. Maybe cheaper if you use multiple teams or retained but retention doesn’t make too much sense for Detroit as they’d be after the futures.
