I’m gonna vote no on this. 3 years for both those guys is not good. They can use this space for actual NHL talent that can help the team and pay for new contracts for Dach, Boqvist, etc in next 2-3 years.

Taking on both is problematic. You're dodging a bullet with Seab's contract to step in front of a bazooka. Start of next season would be a mess.
Not a terrible idea, just maybe the wrong target. Eriksson from Vancouver maybe? shorter term, less payoff but still bringing in assets.

You can put guys on LTIR in the summer, just makes it more difficult to maneuver the cap during the season and make deadline deals. Basically means our team will sink or swim, no additions. Would be annoying for the next 3 years, especially after the growth we've seen this year and the contracts we would have to give to younger guys who deserve them more than Neal and Lucic

you are only able to exceed the cap by 10%. I think those contracts would put you well beyond that threashold and you wouldnt even be able to put guys on LTIR.
That is what Tampa had to do to put Kucherov on LTIR by trading away guys

That feels like a very dangerous cap game to play and be stuck with bad contract just for some draft picks

the buyouts aern't bad in the offseason

Lucic's contract is not buyoutable. It's why they traded him for Neal.
