Zero shot on the Koskinen deal. I’m sure Edmonton would love that 4.5m in cap space, you’re not getting a high second from Ottawa for that.

He’s making 1.8M now. What do you think he signs for?

The Oilers retain 50% of Koskinin’s salary, so he’d cost the Sens 2.25M. And there’s the Oilers 3rd rounder as well. Koskinin is a lot better than the Sens current backup.

Ottawa has two young goalies competing for the backup position. They’re not looking to upgrade it. Even if they were I don’t think moving back from early second round to mid or late third is worth adding Koskinen, even at a reduced cost. Koskinen hasn’t played well but even if he had the fact Ottawa is giving the better asset to help Edmonton out of their cap situation wouldn’t work.

If you flip the picks then maybe but I still don’t think Ottawa has any interest at that point either.

OTT declines.

Why would OTT want an old bad goalie?

Were not gonna be good this year

That’s interesting, because last I looked Patrick has 5 points in 23 games, missed all of last year with an injury, and Bear is playing 20+ minutes a game.

That's funny. I was going to decline that on behalf of the Oilers. Bear plays top pairing comp and comes out with the best stats of any Oilers defenseman, you don't trade a young 1st pairing RHD for a 3C and add assets.

Thanks for your comment. This is for next year - 2021-22. Surely the Sens hope to be a bit better by then?

Next year he’ll be older - and badder. But hey, thought I’d try.

exactly a 3C in philly is basically a 2C for most other teams with less center depth and you just dont trade a stud like that for a top pairing D on one of the worst defensive teams in the league

Stud? tears of joy

Patrick scored 30-ish points in his first 2 years then missed a year due to injury. Now he's scoring at about half that pace - hes not even a 3C on most teams, he's a healthy scratch.
