Description
mainly looking at trading one bad contract for one that is overpaid but maybe back with Eller could get Connolly going again..... Del Zotto gives you a depth D with trading Siegs to get Glendening I KNOW IT'S PROBABLY TOO MUCH FOR GLENDENING, that is my absolute most I would move to get him, mainly needed a roster player to provide enough for the salary to work, even with retention from the Wings....

hoping a 4th will do it, I think Detroit will have multiple suitors for him, that's my maximum I'd give up for him, rather part with Siegs and a lower pick unless the 1 million cap savings burying Panik and puting Carr back on taxi will give caps money to get him.... Siegenthaler is an asset with the LHD playing well in Hershey and overseas

agreed, that's the most I'd do depending on other offers Detroit might get for him..... Siegenthaler and a 6th would be my best deal for roster and cap space to fit the remaining on his deal and bring in Del Zotto as a depth LHD to replace Siegs

I like Connolly a lot more than Panik, so no thanks. Obviously I'm not running things, but that's a guy I'd invest a lot of resources into fixing if I was Chicago. Think he could be a legit piece for us long term

Yeah, as others have said, too much for Glendenning. I doubt the caps go out and add another defenseman, but Del Zotto is a nice low cost option if they decide to add one.

Connolly Panik would be a nice swap and could be high reward, but I think the caps would look for a player that has a little more impact potential. I’m thinking Iafallo or Rakell are legitimate options.

True. But they could use a faceoff specialist, and history shows that's waaay too much for Ryan O'Reilly, so Glendening might be more realistic.

agreed Forsberg, Connolly could be a nice fit with that young Core and Patty Kane in Chi Town

yeah, I know probably a lot for Glendening and mainly my most asset given up type of deal, would hope a pick would be enough, but also knowing a roster player would have to go off to fit the salary ..... the Del Zotto move would be if Siegenthaler was moved, just to have an extra LHD along side TVR as the extra RHD to cover bases in playoffs

yep, mid round pick and one roster player (Siegs) would be the optimal idea for that acquisition, would like to have Glendening and Dowd out there late in games, where one can be aggressive on dot and if kicked out, the other is as good, if not a better option to win draw

Siegenthaler is worth more than Glendening. Detroit can add to that and still call it a win. Glendening would be the Caps' best faceoff guy, but do they need another right shot?

Of the Caps who have taken over twenty faceoffs and won at least 50%, Dowd and Oshie are right shots, and Eller is a left shot, so they might need more help on the left hand side, which is usually easier and cheaper to find.

Looking at left shot guys who are okay at faceoffs this year, I see a couple who have been offered as big pieces in deals for Vrana, which seems expensive for the Caps, as an outsider, but they could get a Miller or a Steel or someone that way, in a deal with other big pieces coming in. Then I see Kuraly, Richardson, Sheahan, Grant, and Cizikas whose teams' fans throw them into trades as cap dumps. Not sure if they're any good at other stuff, or what they'd cost, but my guess is not much. If the Caps have to move Siegenthaler to get a rental who can help them on faceoffs, one of those five guys should come with a 3rd or a decent prospect.

But the real question is how to get Kuznetsov and Backstrom up to 50%.
