Eichel

Created by: Devil
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2021
Published: Apr. 13, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My reasoning:

Main piece is Kaako who could develop in Buffalo
Chytil would a center going to Buffalo to replace Eichel
Schenider is a defensive prospect that is expendable for the Rangers
2 first round picks make up the difference in value

When Eichel gets traded, he won't get traded for max return, but this deal would be fair for both sides
Trades

they wont even be getting 4 1sts of value. Just reality, (not bc he's not good because we all know he is) but bc reality is player of his caliber that get traded in this manner don't return full potential.

I’d rather keep our youth as they are blossoming. Those 2 picks will be roster players in 3-4 years as well so I’m passing on JE

It could be the other way around too. Rangers, Kings, Wild all try to get Eichel and go into a bidding war. One team would overpay for Eichel. But I think you would be most likely correct. However, this deal does seem fair for both sides

The chances of one of those 2 picks turning into a #1 center are unlikely. Eichel is a for sure #1 center the Rangers could use. But your reasoning does make sense

I just can’t see a team trading for him this season. It sounds like he has a pretty serious neck injury.

however there has been rumors that la doesn't want to take on 10 mil worth of cap, but yea if team bid up a lot maybe but i think all teams realize that buffalo cant get that return that they want. if the price gets too high we likely just pass on him then.

That's suprising. The Kings could definitely afford Eichel at 10 M. Knowing the Sabres GM, I think Eichel would get a pretty underwhelming return. Especially if requests a trade.

there is certainly value there and the rangers will still be loaded.

in this hypotethical, buffalo likely would need to take some money back.

I'm sorry, what do you know about Kevyn Adams that would get an underwhelming return? Eichel doesnt have a a NMC

It is a new gm. He has been inconsistent so far, but i dont think hes the huckleberry that was here directly before him. He gave hall 8m and a ntc, which backfired, as the season went up in a cloud of smoke and hall was able to choose his destination- which crushed any hopes of getting a decent return. Just a reminder, eichels ntc doesnt kick in until NEXT summer, so eichel wont have veto rights, as of now.

because they have so many other young players that they'll need to sign as well as it being a flat cap

Whenever a big player gets traded, the return would likely be underwhelming. For example. the Gretzky trade. My mistake, I thought his NMC started next year

Why wouldn’t Eichel get max return. IF BUF were to trade him (they shouldn’t) what is the impetus for them to not get max value? He is 5 more years on his contract beyond this year. What is he going to do, sit out and not get paid? BUF has all of the leverage, somebody will pay them that. I’ve said it before there is ZERO way a current Eichel to the Rangers deal does not include Lafrienere +. Ranger fans can try to justify it but it just isn’t happening. Elite young 1C’s with long term deals in place are the absolute premiums.

COL/QUE with the Lindros and Duchene trade would disagree with you. Gretzky got traded for reasons beyond hockey with his wife and the owners of the Kings playing a part in that.

I am a sabres fan but unfortunately i think this is wrong. I think the difference between the rangers and many/most other teams is that they can still put a very attractive package together, with quality and quantity, without specifically their recent 1oa. Where sabres and rangers fans differ, is just how many pieces beneath lafrenniere should be off limits, and furthermore, how many of these rangers packages with their 5th, 6th best prospects would be A) acceptable and B) the strongest package available.

Zibby is a 1C, Chytils numbers are a reflection of what Zibby did at the beginning of his career. Eichel would have to be resigned in 5 years time plus we can’t actually afford Eichel. Strome is a solid 2C for now. When we resign Zibby he will cost less than Eichel and has been better over the last 2 seasons

Well Sakic got the equivalent of 2 1sr 2 2nds a 3rd and back up goalie. If you were dumb enough to trade Eichel you sure as **** better be getting whatever prospect you want multiple 1st round picks whatever top 6/4 guy you want outside the obvious superstar that’s excluded which is Panarin and Fox. If I’m BUF my start ask is Lafrienere, Zibanijad, Lundqvist and 2 1st rd picks. And before anybody freaks out it’s called negotiating you ask for a lot more than you expect to get. But like I’ve said I careless about either team so I like to think I’m being objective.

Big no thanks if I was Rangers GM. Mika is a bona fide 1C and Strome is doing just fine as a 2C relative to his cost. Chytil will be a 1C/2C someday soon and by then our wingers will be studs. jack can enjoy himself in Buffalo.
