MB has it in him to make a good move, but his efforts to waste all the cap space on middle six depth this year to have yet another middling to average year shows that he is nothing special.

Because Habs fans can only ever see things their own way. I probably am bias, because I do not like Habs media at all, and the fans stand on that hill trying to defend the irrational takes the media pushes. If he was a top 10 GM after all this time, you'd have a very successful franchise. There's been some solid moves in his tenure, yeah. But, how come you're strapped to the cap (next year too) with a fringe playoff team? If he is as good as you say, this should be a very strong contender, not a fringe contender.

I think 19 is a very fair place to peg him. MB is certainly competent, but not top tier.

I get their points, but sorry, bergevin isn’t even top 15, let alone top 10. Some of the contracts he’s given out are questionable. He’s made some decent moves, arguably his best draft pick fell into his lap.

I like the list, IMO Sweeney and Lamoriello are too high. I’d like to see Jarmo higher, same with Bowman (3 cups makes you a top 15 lock) and Dorion.

When did I ever say that Copp isn’t even worth a 1st alone tbh. I think you might just be misunderstanding what I said, cause I did say that Copp is more valuable to the Jets than a 1st is. That’s probably where you got that from. Two totally different things, his trade value is lower than a first, but his value to the Jets is higher than a 1st.

I know you’re not putting all the fans in the same basket. I didn’t mean to either and should’ve clarified that. But I still stand by what I said in that the habs and leafs have the most biased fans.

I’m not one of the Jets fans that believe what you said, and I was upset when we didn’t actually add anything of substance at the deadline. I do believe it was smart to not toss the farm away for a dman, but I would’ve liked to see Chevy grab a Ryan Murray or a Haydn Fleury. While yes Heinola and samberg are in the pipeline, they aren’t what we need to win a cup.

But back to my main point. Bergevin isn’t a top 10 GM, just the same as I’d say Chevy isn’t a top 10 GM. There are definitely better GMs out there. Bergevin and Chevy have both signed some questionable contracts and made some questionable moves. That’s why I think it’s fair to rank them near each other. Like Chevy at 15 and MB at 17-19 is probably accurate. The one thing I will give MB is that he has the balls to tender an Offer Sheet, I wish more GMs were like that.

I disliked the team before this season. I don't really hide my dislike for the team and a chunk of their fanbase.... absolutely some great MTL fans out there, I just don't think the vast majority has takes that are on earth. Pretty much what everybody doesn't like Toronto for, I dislike Montreal for. For whatever reason their media and fans bug me more than Toronto's

It also likely doesn’t help that their fans just make it even easier to hate them with some of the crap they say. Like there are a lot of good MTL and Toronto fans out there. But with those two fan groups there are so many that typically the bad outweigh the good.
