I disagree. Adding a viable middle 6 cup winner your GM likes will help more than the picks

These seem like realistic trades. I bet we’d be lucky to get that for Killorn but he could be of great value to other teams.

No it won't. We're not in "win now" mode, so trading futures for an aging winger is just poor asset management. If we are going to add players, it will be via free agency, not trade.

That is about 110% not true. Yzerman has loaded up on picks because he knows the only way to rebuild is through the draft.

Id be open to taking killorn but I'm not giving you that for him. Maybe like edm 2nd and svech or the 4th but not both.

If you aren't going to try in the next year or 2 you should just trade Larkin now.

Killorn has term and you aren't giving up much

No way does Wings do this deal.

Killron is 31 and NO Rebuilding team trades what is a top40 pick for a 31 year old players.

Yes Yzerman likes Killorn, but that is with a different team, and different dynamic. Trying to compare the two is funny , because they are are on different paths right now.

we will take Killorn but with maybe pick swaps- Its basically freeing up cap for Tampa- A 31+, 30 point forward at 4mill does us no good- svechnikov would probably get that many points if was a regular in the lineup for less than a mil. Tampa would have to deal picks to us to take.

Yzerman has stated multiple times he’s only picks for players that fit our core. Killorn will be 32 at that point and is a ~45 pt winger and a cap casualty which hurts his value. We’ve seen players like Toews/Schmidt go for lesser returns while playing a more valuable position. Someone will point to Toews returning 2 seconds but were talking Colorado picks so a ~35 OVR > ~60 OVR pick all day.

we simply disagree. I think there is a ton of value in adding killorn to a very young forward group with zadina, raymond, the 2021 1st etc. he can still play and unless you want to continue to tear it down and trade Larkin, then maybe dont worry about non 1st round picks and former busts.

That non first round pick is roughly ~35th overall which still has decent odds of being an NHL player. So I’d be curious to see why they’d pay assets for an 32 year old winger when they can make a splash in FA. Couple that question with the fact we have Bertuzzi, Vrana, Zadina, and Fabbri plus Raymond and Berggren knocking on the door. Why would we trade Larkin? Doesn’t make any sense to trade a young established top 6 center, you’d understand that pain being a Sabres fan missing that coveted 2C for awhile now. Fairly compensated, family lives here, and multiple rumors of other Michigan natives (eg Werenski) wanting to come back means there’s value in the organization’s direction. This is also why I mentioned that Yzerman has stated multiple times he isn’t moving a pick unless they see a core piece. You can disagree with me all you want but it’s not just my speculation you’re disagree with but rather comps (Toews/Schmidt) plus words directly from Yzerman. I also never mentioned anything about Svechnikov but to be even more logical with my original argument. How does TB make the cap work with ~85M on the books next year and that’s 14 roster players? We’ve seen how VGK & NYI moved more valuable pieces for a lesser return. There’s more pressure on TB due to the cap surplus but maybe they pay Seattle to take some of these guys but again the key word is they pay not the acquiring team.

Hi, I commented on a public ACGM which you hit “publish” so others can view and discuss. You provided no reasoning outside of “veteran” which I debunked with current players nor do you want to have a civil discussion surrounding a team you clearly don’t follow or how you came to that value. If you don’t want people to discuss, don’t hit publish.

It’s not disagreeing when you can’t answer questions surrounding your logic. You’ve stated really only two things and only one is about why we’d do the trade. First you stated, Yzerman values veteran wingers over picks when his actions and words have said the opposite. You then state we should trade Larkin if we’re not competing in the next two years. I asked why? Followed by logic of why he’d sign an extension. I then followed up with alternatives for Detroit like FA and comps for moving cap. I even brought up our depth of wingers as another reason. It would be the same as me creating an ACGM sending Dahlin to Detroit for pennies because I say he wants out without any credible support, it’s frankly annoying and it’s not reasoning.

I dont follow any of that. Dahlin is 21 and has 4 RFA years.

I'm saying if you arent going to even try for 2+ years just trade Larkin now.

I said the same thing about Mantha and was mocked and then look what happened.

I believe my trade makes sense for Detroit. Killorn is known to Yzerman. He is a winner and he can still play and doesn't make a ton of money. His experience on and off the ice is invaluable as detroit begins the path to a playoff team. The price isn't high either. a non 1st round pick in a year half the draft didn't play a game for 1.5 years, a late round pick and guy you aren't going to qualify.

Your reasons for not doing it are valid, as I believe are mine. If you stopped responding to me with 500 word responses we could move on.

The Dahlin comment is surrounding me making a statement which isn’t backed with any evidence which is what you did by stating Yzerman would value Killorn over that 35th overall pick. His trades and press conferences say the opposite.

In 2 years, Larkin is 26 years old and a perfect role model for our youth. The growth of our prospects and hopefully a little lottery luck gains us some more wins. We’ve already outpaced last year, rebuilds aren’t over night.

Mantha was traded for Vrana (younger top 6 winger) and a first rounder + second rounder (to take on Panik). Mantha was having motivation issues in Detroit so when you can get a player of Vrana’s caliber + first rounder, you do it. Mo is a better player than Vrana but Mo wasn’t playing 100% in Detroit so it was a change for him. So this isn’t really the same thing as trading Larkin unless we’re getting a younger proven top 6 center + futures.

Again, no one is saying that cup experience isn’t valuable but I think you’re overvaluing his name being engraved on the Cup. Plenty of FAs have cup experience, we even got one via waivers (Djoos).

The top end of the draft of CHL players went to Euro leagues to play so your statement about half of the prospects not playing for 1.5 years is way off. Who says we won’t quality Svechnikov? It’s a low amount.

If my comment needs 500 words to explain my rationale, it will be 500 words.
