The rumored, and I want to emphasize rumored, trade was Johnsson and Dermott for Weegar. I would've taken that in a heartbeat if, in fact, it was offered, but honestly something seems fishy about that deal to me. It came from Friedman, but there was a lot of "I think" in his comments.

The Weegar rumors never made sense to me, aside from the fact that he was a pending RFA, and the team was semi-looking to cut payroll.

You're basing it on your opinion and on the player's reputation. This is based on numbers and Danault's are significantly better

which ones? looking at corsi, barkov is better, fenwick barkov is better, even less telling stats like takeaways, barkov is better. on ice 5 on 5 goals against, barkov has 5 more averaging 5 more minutes a night. which wild stats have you pigeon holed to tell yourself that danault is better

Luczszyun or whatever is a clown. Doesn't even have Ty Smith in the conversation for Calder? come on

Exactly. Money was the only potential motivation that I could think of. The Dermott/Johnsson deal would've helped in that aspect, but boy that's a big loss for the Panthers. Something just doesn't add up there.

Try again without your homer glasses. All 6 rookies above are better in any way you look at it

Danault : 1.89 xGA/60, Barkov : 1.98 xGA/60
Danault : 2.2 Def, Barkov : 1.1 Def
Danault : 1.6 xDef, Barkov : 0.1 xDef

Barkov is probably going to win it based on totals, but on a 60 minutes rate they're very close

Ned is among the best goalies in the league, not just among rookies. It's closer than you think.

JRob is basically at the same level as Kap, so if you so have Kap over Ned so should JRob.

okay, so it is an extraordinarily cherry picked argument.

weegar finally getting the respect he deserves
elite defensive game, tied for 2nd (!) in even strength points by a defenseman with 26 (not a power play point accumulator)

Not really. If you only look at points maybe but they don't tell the whole story. Kaprizov has a significantly bigger impact due to his better defensive game.

Good joke. The first 4, fine. Sturm and Norris? No.

His WAR is projected at 0.4 He gets praise because he scores but it doesn't matter much when you get scored on as much as you score. Norris' WAR is 1.3 and Sturm's is 1.5. There's quite a gap.

I'm a big critic of Andy & Rono's stats. Ever noticed how almost every player are in the 90+ percentile in almost everything?

Dom gets his stats from Evolving Hockey which is the most trusted source for advanced stats. Kaprizov and Ned are both tied at 1.67 GSVA and Robertson is just behind at 1.50

Hate to break it to you but the Calder has never been awarded to the rookie leader in WAR. Have you ever considered he gets scored on a lot because the Devils are a dumpster fire defensively and in goal? What he's done as a 20 year old defenceman on an awful team is more impressive than both of those guys, no way around it.

If the Devils are a dumpster fire defensively, maybe the rookie playing 20 minutes a night contributes a lot to that?

Hella disrespectful to Hedman not even having him top 5 in Norris voting

You're free to disagree but there's a case to be made: he shouldn't be in the top5.

Victor Hedman Shouldn't Win the Norris Trophy

If you're bringing up Hedman's name, you're basing it on points and half of them come on the PP.

Basically half of Fox & Makar's points came on the PP too.

Fox: 23 of 47 = 49%
Makar: 18 of 35 = 51%

Minor thing, but your Rocket Richard list is incorrect. I realize you posted this yesterday, but it was incorrect as of yesterday too.

Matthews
McDavid
Rantanen
Toffoli
Marchand
Ovechkin
Draisaitl
DeBrincat
