Back in Vegas expansion, TB paid the signing rights of Gusev (who was the top tier KHL player back then), 2nd rd pick and 4th rd pick for Vegas to take one year of Jason Garrison's contract as their pick. I'm using that as a comparable for the compensation EDM would have to pay to dump two years of James Neal's contract to Seattle.

I wouldn't do this if I were the Stars. Losing both Khudobin and Dickinson for Stalock doesn't seem worth it. Plus we give up a higher pick. Even if this is after the expansion draft, Dobby could get like a 3rd round pick ish, which I would rather have than this tbh.

You're probably right, but honestly DAL need to move Dobby if Bish returns. If not to Seattle, then somewhere else.

      EDM is a possibility imo.

what's the point of paying all of that to dump Neal if you are just going to piss it away on a 6 year contract on a guy who is already 31 years old next year.
      That's just horrible decision making.

I don't think such term will be offered to Tatar. Imo he signs a Hoffman or a Dadonov contract

Pretty likely. Figured Holland would offer a nice contract for his former guy back in DET. That kind of contract will certainly win any other offers I reckon.

I would love to see Barrie back but not at that term or price.

Hard to see him getting much less than that after what is more or less a career year.

Imo Krug contract has set a precedent on what a 30-year-old top pair offensive D can get.

You may be correct, but then I let him walk.

I would wait to see if he can play again first. With the Shaw news out it’s making me think about Bishop’s health, he had a big history with injuries and didn’t play this whole year. I see what point you’re making though.

Yup, this is terrible. First they aren't going to give all those assets to move Neal, they can buy him out with a $1.9M cap penalty - that's not worth Jones + a 1st + a 4th to a team with tons of cap space this summer. And why overpay for Barrie when Bear is cheaper and better and Bouchard is knocking on the door? It's ridiculous.

Too much money & term for Nuge, too much term for Tatar. WTF is Slater Koekkoek doing getting a 2 year deal AND a big raise? Why is Marody in over McLeod? There's so much wrong with this.
