Ras is a legit 2C

Created by: pavelisgoat

Description
Watching Rasmussen come into his own, I can't believe it but he is starting to look like he was a great pick and I'm convinced he can not just be a 2C but be a good one.

Now the question is, do we have a good enough 1C. Larkin is one just not an elite one. Hopefully the wingers pan out - this team has to be elite on wing / D

He has taken major strides this season and I love it. People tend to forget that he JUST turned 22 at that. I think his ceiling is very high for what he can become.

I'm not sure Rasmussen is going to have enough offense to be a real good top 6 center. I can seehim as a big puck possesion 3rd line center, a guy like Charlie Coyle or Jordan Staal. Anchor the bottom 6, but who can play 200 ft and play all situations.

He looks very good retrieving pucks, protecting the puck, battling for position and using his size. I really like his ceiling now. Put him with good wingers and he can have great success.

IMO I see him as another Adam Lowry. Big body that can play every situation, be reliable defensively and chip in on offence every once and a while.

I don't know if you have to worry about the wing yet, with Raymond, Zadina, Vrána, and Bertuzzi. Honestly if they pick up a quality player in the draft they are an exciting young team

I think that’s an extremely low evaluation of Rasmussen’s skill. But he’s young and hasn’t played a bunch yet so only time will tell. While Lowry is handy, I certainly hope Ras turns into a higher end player, Lowry is a 3C and nothing more. We will see how his newest contract ages. Ras appears to have a lot more skill

As for the Vancouver trade, I'd bet my lunch money Benning would gladly let the Wings take Louie off his hands for a second. If he was willing to throw in Virtanen, That'd be a great deal for Det
