Offers on Kuznetsov

Description
Leave any possible scenarios down below.

LeBrun and Friedmann both are under the impression Capitals could move on from Kuznetsov. It's a very interesting case:
-Kuznetsov turns 29 in just a few weeks and carries a large $7.8mil cap hit for the next 4 seasons with a M-NTC
-Kuznetsov has had a run-in with off-ice issues of late, which everyone probably knows (illegal substance use heading into 2018-19 season, broke protocols and caught COVID, late to team meeting recently)
-That being said, he has had three 20 goal seasons since 2015-16 (two times he barely missed with 19 goals) and has put up between 52 points (last season, which was cut short) and 83 points (2017-18). His points per game has dropped some however due to inconsistency. But one thing is he may not pass the eye test but I still get surprised on the stuff he does do. A lot of pressure was put on him after 2018 because it was his best season and had a terrific postseason that hasn't quite been replicated, but nevertheless he's undeniably put up respectable numbers
-In 2018, he went on a monster run (12G 20A 32P in 24GP) and arguably could have won the Conn Smythe over Ovechkin (15G 12A 27P in 24GP)

What would you/your team's GM do if they were interested? What does WSH GM Brian MacLellan try to get back? What places would he possibly fit in? Not trying to start any debates, just genuinely curious so I can set my own expectations if this develops further

Would a deal around Monahan work?

Dumba for Kuznetsov?

Not sure if either team would be interested but it could work

That's actually not the worst thing I've heard all day...I'd think that Washington might have to add a little tiny piece, but I don't hate it.

That's what I thought about too. Imo both need a change of scenery. Could be a solid hockey deal.

Honestly, by comparing numbers between the two, a trade involving them makes sense. Kuznetsov 418P in 520GP; Monahan 439P in 589GP. Both top 6 centers. Monahan has more or less consistently put up around 60ish points a season from 2015-16 to the current season, an average of 57 points a season, with more goals than Kuznetsov; Kuznetsov is kind of scattered, but averages 62 points a season with more assists than Monahan in the same time period.

When you look at it, it really could be a solid deal. Of course, maybe advanced stats don't line up, maybe character concerns. I see Washington being a fit for Monahan, but is Calgary fit for Kuznetsov or the other way around?

I can see this now. Kuznetsov + 1st + prospect for Laine and WSH lets Ov go.

I cannot imagine the return would be massive
Maybe lesser center and mid-pick

That could work too, I've seen it a lot on here. But the common trend seems to be Washington fans propose it, Wild fans shoot it down most of the time.

Wild wouldn't want him..

Guerin just started the process of fixing wild lockeroom room issues. Same reason he wasn't ever interested in bringing/ trading dumba for Sean Monahan

So no. You don't bring a cancer like that, & drug user around kaprizov

Making sure younger players are accepted, welcomed, & not left out are a few of the big things Guerin had to fix about the wild lockeroom

Yeah because of character issues. Guerin isn't interested in players like Kuznetsov. It's same reason he got rid of Greg pateryn, & Eric Staal.

First season/ year wild didn't lose 6, 7, 8, 9 games in a row, &; go through their yearly lockeroom issues due to Guerin coming in, & making sure everyone is holding each other's responsible, & adding good character guys like ian Cole, nick bonino, & keeping leaders like ian Cole, Ryan Hartman around with multi-year extensions.

Like wild beat writer said the other day as a joke: wild GM bill Guerin would rather die of a heartache instead of Marcus foligno, & Ryan Hartman not playing on wild
