Ideally you could offersheet Cal Foote with an extra 500k-750k and avoid dealing with Johnson

Offer sheets never happen but yeah that would be the preferred route.

I Figured this way it’s a 3 way deal with Seattle. TB gets help to move Johnson via us eating salary and also helps us get to the floor. Johnson goes back home and gives Seattle a proven winner and vet in the locker room. Then we get Foote for our lower first and by eating salary from Johnson it doesn’t cost anything more.

I like the idea of a Foote/Johnson deal, but don’t think we give the 1st there.
I’m not sure I do 1st in that deal without Johnson.
Foote is good young d-man, but his appeal is mostly due to his perceived availability.
There are better young RHD we could acquire with that pick.

Can still add a defenseman with the first pick. After the first few picks this draft is supposed to be pretty weak. It’s known that fitz wants to utilize the oick for a player if possible. So eating a few million for Tyler Johnson doesn’t hurt. We also don’t have him getting in the way of other players because he moves to Seattle

Why not use him in Zajac like role?
Can put him anywhere in lineup.
Could use a veteran or two.

(Also, they added Seattle...so we don’t have to tag Anaheim anymore).

He wouldn’t waive to us. I like zajac coming back for 1 year for the mentor role but also his defensive acumen which I believe is better than TJ.

Ahh thanks! Had no idea.

I don’t disagree. I honestly have no idea of his availability or really his cost for that matter. I feel like they have to do something with their D due to the upcoming expansion. Trading a first with johnsson which I’ve seen makes no sense for Seattle.

Having Johnson and Johnsson at a total of 5.9m doesn't seem like much of bargain for Seattle

I was referring to the 2022 draft and "competitive but miss playoffs again"

Gotcha. With a normal schedule (hopefully) and growth from our current roster we will be better but not much better. I still don’t think we will make the playoffs. We will probably fall in the 7-10 range. Still draft someone really good, just not Wright or Lambert unless we win the lottery again.

I don’t think a high pick would be required to get this done.

I neeeed Wright, Lambert, Savoie, or Miroshnichenko lol. Too much suffering over the past few years just to turn it around in a year with so many great players in the top 5

Sure johnson agree's to waive to New jersey just to be a expansion draft casualty of the Devils, Don't think so.
