Eichel to Boston

Created by: Chapee44
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 14, 2021
Published: May 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't think this will happen but just wanted to look at it. Brings high talent back rather than a rebuild trade. Before Boston fans lose it, Marchy-Bergy-RW, Hall-Eichel-Smith is a terrifying top 6...

This roster is markedly improved from the one that went 9-11-2 since Donny Meatballs came in and the losing streak ended.

In: Pasta, Appleton, Beneirs, Cizikas, Girgensons, Tanev, Lauzon, Driedger, Bernier
Out: Olofsson, Murray, Sheahan, 2 F scratches, Miller, Risto, Mixed bag of AHL/ECHL goalies
Ullmark did go 4-1-1 in that stretch too but I think Driedger is right with Ullmark talent wise.

Value aside, I don't see why Buffalo would want to acquire Pastrnak. He is in his Prime and does not fit with a Sabres rebuild. Other than turning around and flipping him for assets. But really what was the point of getting him in the first place?

This in theory means it's not a rebuild. If they retain Eichel and Reinhart, which I think they will, then a couple more positive pieces could change the whole complexion of the franchise. They had a lot of bad luck this year with injuries covid etc. It doesn't need to be a full tear down.

Do Buffalo fans actually think they are getting a hockey trade for Eichel? No you are 100% tanking for Wright and Bedard if he's moved

I know reading is hard for some people. Try your best at the description though! Let me know if I need to edit it so it's easier to understand.

Oh! You just worded it like a stated fact as opposed to an opinion so I wanted to see the reference!
I agree he really helped Hanifin that's why I want him on my team lol
Adding Olofsson up front I think would be beneficial for the Flames but I agree that this trade was a win for Buffalo and they needed to add.

One is a supposedly elite franchise center. The other is a solid supporting cast player.

I'm sorry... did you just call Pasta a "solid supporting cast player"? You might as well go ahead and get in the pond, if you're gonna be a silly goose.

Poor choice of words maybe... He is definitely an elite player. But not someone you build your team around.

I'm gonna strongly disagree and let the Bruins fans have at you lol he's a polarizing play driver that has produced even when Bergeron and Marchand have missed time with injuries. I unequivocally would put him in the top 5 RWs in the league with Stone, Kucherov, Kane, and Marner.

Imagine thinking a guy who just last year won the Rocket for most goals scored was a "solid supporting cast player" tears of joy

The same guy who since the 2014-2015 season ranks 9th in the NHL for goals scored....is a "solid supporting cast player" laugh
