Ottawa sends a 2nd to Seattle to take Zaitsev in the expansion draft.

Chabot - Dumba
Brannstrom - Zub

would be a huge improvement for Ottawa and will only get better when Sanderson is ready.

Wild aren't trading dumba for this

Wild already have two 1st round pick in 21. Wild aren't taking back any d in dumba trade; much less a d who won't ever play on the wild. So no.

As for the deal, I would take that. we could get Eklund, Lysell or Johnson with that Ottawa pick. Definitely, it is close to what I expect.

Completely agree, I think this is a good deal all around. Chabot and Dumba would make a great pairing. Seattle gets an extra pick and a serviceable D man, MIN gets some great future.

Lmao you're nuts. Nobody in their right minds gives up a top 10 pick for Matt Dumba, let alone adding a good D Prospect and a 2nd. This deal is horrendous for Ottawa.

Matt Dumba isn't worth a top 10 pick in my opinion. I don't think he's a good fit at all.

I'd do the Seattle part in a heartbeat, but Dorion all but confirmed the Sens will simply lose who they lose, and won't try and make any deals.

You're probably right, but Thomson doesn't seem to be in the Sens' long-term plans and they are already stocked with prospects that will need places to play. Dumba would be a huge facelift for the d-core which has been the team's weak suit for 3 years now.

You only do the Seattle trade if have a replacement top 4 RD that can step in.

I don't really agree with that assessment of Thomson at all. He's a longer term project for sure, but he absolutely can fit in on this team long term. He's probably gonna take a couple of years, but right now, JBD and Zub are the only RHD who matter long term. The Org sees him as a top 4 D long term.

Also as far as Dumba is concerned, he'd be an improvement, but he's not really the type of D Ottawa needs. He's not a strong defensive player, and I don't really think he's a great fit with the offensive minded LD side of Chabot-Brannstrom-Mete. He's also going to take Power Play time away from Brannstrom, which I think would really hurt him in a really important next season for him. The ideal Dman addition would be a guy who fills the role Zaitsev plays, but without being dog**** bad like Zaitsev.

I'd do the Zaitsev trade if it meant Ottawa had to play the entire next season with 5D. He makes the Sens better just by not being on them.

Dumba would be nice for Ottawa but for that price id thuck myself
